BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boynton Beach man is facing multiple charges after police say he did something somewhat unbelievable to his golf cart. Nicholas Marill of Sealoft Drive was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on Friday. He was later released on $6,000 bond.
According to a police report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, Marill hid his golf cart in a neighbor’s storage unit, then called Boynton Beach Police and claimed it was stolen. It took a Boynton Beach Police Officer a matter of moments to find the golf cart that Marill claimed was snatched. Marill then continued to lie, even when confronted by police. Here are key elements from the official report:
“I responded to 608 Sealoft Dr, Boynton Beach, FL. 33426, in reference to a reported vehicle theft. Upon arrival, I made contact with the complainant, Nicholas S. Marill, who provided a sworn statement alleging the following: Earlier today, his wife informed him that his golf cart was missing from the garage. Upon returning home, he confirmed the golf cart was not in the garage and immediately contacted BBPD for assistance. Marill stated the missing vehicle was a 2025 Yamaha golf cart bearing FL tag #DQ06CK. He advised the last time he observed the golf cart was on Thursday, April 28, before leaving for the airport, and that he discovered it missing upon returning home on this date. Marill stated he is the registered owner, does not have payments as he owns it, and did not permit anyone else to use the golf cart. He further stated he does not know who may have taken it. Marill provided me with a picture of the golf cart and requested to pursue criminal charges for the alleged theft. He completed and signed a stolen vehicle affidavit and was issued and signed a Marsy’ s Law form, invoking his right to privacy. While on scene, I canvassed the area for CCTV footage and made contact with (a neighbor). (That neighbor) provided a sworn statement and appeared surprised to learn of the alleged theft. (The neighbor) stated that on the night of Wednesday, May 3, Marill asked if he could store the golf cart in (the neighbor’s) garage due to a lack of space in his own. (The neighbor) confirmed that Marill physically drove he golf cart into his garage. (The neighbor) escorted me to the garage, where I observed the golf cart matching the photo provided by Marill. It should be noted the vehicle was missing its license plate. Photos were captured on (body worn camera).”
“I returned to APT 102 and made contact with Marill a second time. He provided another sworn statement continuing to allege the theft. Marill was given three separate opportunities to amend or correct his statement but continued to insist the golf cart was stolen. When questioned about the golf cart being inside (his neigbor’s) garage, Marill became visibly nervous and acted surprised. Following a Miranda warning, Marill admitted the following: He intentionally placed the golf cart in (his neighbor’s) garage because it had been experiencing mechanical issues and he “just wanted to get rid of it.” Marill stated he knowingly contacted BBPD to falsely report the golf cart stolen, despite being aware of its location. He also admitted to removing the license plate, intending to reuse it on a future golf cart purchase. Based on the investigation, I determined there is probable cause to charge and arrest Nicholas S. Marill for the following: Making False Report – Knowingly Give False Information to Law Enforcement Officer Alleging Commission of a Crime, F. S. S. 837.05(1a). Perjury- Contradictory Statements Official Proceeding in accordance to FS. S. 837.021(1). Marill knowingly provided false information to law enforcement concerning the alleged theft of his golf cart. Marill knowingly completed & signed a Stolen Vehicle Affidavit.”
The incident took place in May. Marill was arrested on Friday. He is not allowed to leave Palm Beach County as a condition of his bond.
