It’s Boca Rudeton For Sunday, And Simon Property Group Is Still Destroying The Shopping Experience.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — We know that representatives from Simon Property Group (NYSE:SPG) spent time researching BocaNewsNow.com over the past several days after we published the photo, below, of dog poop on the floor of Boca Raton Town Center Mall. It was part of last week’s Boca Rudeton — our weekly look at the people and companies that are destroying South Palm Beach County through grossness and rudeness.

What we didn’t expect is that management at Town Center Mall would continue to look the other way when people bring pets inside. Look no further than our first nominee, above. It’s a woman and an animal that looks like a dog but is big enough to be a horse. Why is this in the mall? If this woman is so desperate to have her pet with her when she shops at Dolce and Gabbana, maybe she should use their online option. Boca Raton Town Center Mall, a Simon Property Group mall, continues to be one of the grossest places in South Florida.

LET’S STAY AT BOCA RATON TOWN CENTER MALL for one more moment while this couple pushes a dog in a stroller like it’s a small child. It’s not a child. It is a dog. And we just don’t understand what it’s doing there.

AT PUBLIX at the Fifth Avenue Shops in Boca Raton, our tipster says the manager couldn’t have cared less that this man below was apparently violating Florida law — and the huge signs that state no pets are allowed inside. We note the dog’s fur does match the man’s loafers, but that’s still not an excuse. No pets in Publix. That’s company policy. It’s unclear why management is not enforcing its own rules or Florida statutes.

AT STARBUCKS at Clint Moore Road and U.S. 441, we have the living, breathing example of why the company is failing. Starbucks sales continue to be a problem for shareholders, and we suggest that maybe the company needs to make it nice again to have coffee inside a store. Let’s get rid of the lounging people with their horse-sized dogs inside. We don’t know why Mr. Red Sneaker thinks it’s okay to use Starbucks like it’s his living room, but we do know why so many people think Starbucks is now disgusting.

Let’s move on to BAGELWORKS in Boca Raton. That’s where we find a woman and her dog. Again, animals are not allowed in restaurants in Florida unless they’re highly trained service animals that perform a lifesaving function. Maybe this is one of those animals. Or, maybe it’s just a dog being held by a woman in a bagel shop where it would seem the woman is violating Florida statute and BagelWorks doesn’t seem to care. We do know this: we’ll care when BagelWorks is next inspected by the Florida Department of Health. Check back for that report.

We pause now for our weekly reminder that we’re not making this stuff up. Here is our favorite sign in South Florida reminding patrons at LaBamba in Delray Beach that non-service animals are not allowed in restaurants or supermarkets, and it’s a crime to lie about your animal’s service training.

AT CHINA GARDEN RESTAURANT in Delray Beach, we see a woman who apparently couldn’t have Chinese Food without her dog. Again, we could be wrong, but this dog does not appear to be trained to provide a lifesaving function. Maybe it could open a fortune cookie, but that’s about it. And we think inside that fortune cookie is a piece of paper that reads: “Confucious Say You Are Violating Florida Law Today.”

And in BEAUREGARD’S FINE MEAT in Boca Raton, we have to wonder out loud what this woman was thinking. In what world is okay to bring your oversized dog into — literally — a meat market? If you’re looking for a store that sells meat that is definitely not subject to dog, you may want to find another purveyor than Beauregard’s Fine Meat at 497 NE 20th Street in Boca Raton.

TO PARKING NOW, and this apparently entitled red car driver with Florida temp tag DXI8163. The car was seen at Royal Palm Place. Maybe the overly intelligent driver believed that he or she could park here because the curb marking was the same color as the car.

AT GREENWISE on Glades Road near the Florida Turnpike, we have a Hyundai with Florida plate PERH38. Our tipster asks what the driver is thinking. We have to wonder as well. The Stop Sign is not a permanent sort of thing, like, don’t stop and leave the car. Although that’s apparently what the driver did when he or she parked along the yellow curb.

So who is our winner? For the first time in Boca Rudeton history, it’s a repeat winner. While many of the individuals above are worthy of a Boca Rudeton win, our judges believe that it needs to be DAVID SIMON who is the CEO of Simon Property Group which owns Boca Raton Town Center Mall. In our view, no one is doing more to destroy the shopping experience of an upscale mall than David Simon and his company which continues — inexplicably — to allow animals inside the mall. Our friendly Google Gemini AI creator imagined what the framed award might look like. Congrats, David.

Your ‘tipster’ needs to get a life. We love the pets in Starbucks. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Please have coffee at home if you don’t like it.
It’s against the law, Dawn. Bring your dog inside and let’s see if you get cited one of these days.
Who’s “we”? I love dogs but not near my food. And certainly not YOUR dog near my food. Stop the solipsism, please. The rules and laws are for and apply to everyone.
I adore my dog. She would behave perfectly in a mall. However, I would never bring her as it is not allowed. Why subject her to others who would comment and upset her. Dogs do NOT belong in malls!
Does it frustrate you that Boca News keeps publishing these but does nothing to fix the issue. I have begun copying the information and sending it to the companies directly and to the board of health. Let’s try and solve this issue. Start forwarding the info to the companies and the board of health.
Beautiful dog. Beautiful woman. Love it.
It is amazing what the mall has become. It used to be nice. Now it is a place no normal person would want to go to. Simon has destroyed it. The animal farm inside is a smelly unsightly reminder of why Amazon is the best option all the time.
Per the Town Center at Boca Raton Website: “Our Policy On Pooches: YES TO…
ADA Service Animals.
Small emotional support or therapy dogs carried or contained in purses, bags or strollers.
NO TO…
Pets and non-service animals.
Dogs on furniture.
Dogs that cause a mess, threat or distruption.”
Why pillory the elderly couple with the dog in a stroller? They presumably have not broken any rules. I also want to point out that service dogs may be indistinguishable to the casual observer, from pets. Dogs serve a myriad of roles essential people with a myriade of disabling needs. There are dogs that detect seizures, low blood sugar, steady the gait of people with neurological disorders, guide people who are blind, provide pullassistance to those with disabling PTSD,
I was going to add more ways service dogs may serve people, yet look like your ordinary pet. This site does not allow to hit “enter” for a new line, but goes immediately to post. I would add: the excrement left on the floor is disgusting, and whoever left that there gives fuel to the dog-haters. Above poster contacting companies in violation has the right idea. I suggest starting with Publix corporate offices and make them aware of the problem. If enough customers voice their concerns, maybe they’ll get a clue and do something about it.
Perhaps BIGGER signs with flashing lights and marching band music would help those who can’t see the already posted signage out and around these businesses.
As for Boca News doing something about the problem, IMHO, they already are by getting the word out.
About Publix and other stores and the animals in the stores, a problem is that the people working in the stores do not want to confront these people because the majority of them are asses and will give them a hard time, scream and shout, etc., and Publix policy is they don’t want their employees hurt or misused at the same time. They don’t want the animals in the store and they pretty much leave it up to the manager on duty to take care of it. So if you see a non-service animal and you can tell by how it acts if it barks if it roams around, it really should have a bib on it. It to the managers, attention and insist that they find out they will and you’re correct. People should report the stores first to management and if that doesn’t solve the problem, then they should report it to the state and let them find the store when the stores get fined the 5000 and shut down they’ll get the message
The elderly couple in China Garden are habitual offenders. They are the (redacted) and they live in Delray. When you ask them to remove their dog from the seat, she starts screaming, “leave us alone”. It’s so awkward and uncomfortable. Everyone just lets them get away with it. Their dog “Binky” serves no purpose whatsoever. These two should be fined at the very least!!!
What happens if a dog is in Publix and someone drops grapes or chocolate every where? Maybe that’ll stop people from bringing dogs? Or someone has an allergic reaction to someone’s dog. I can’t stand the entitlement. I’d love to bring my little dog everywhere. But I’m more considerate
Great Job – The dogs in the mall are disgusting. You see it everywhere now. I see them in BJ’s also. Whenever I see a dog in a business I point at it and say at loud look service dog. Can you imagine what a lawsuit it would be if the Great Dane attacked someone.
I saw an elderly man with his dog sitting in the grocery cart at Aldi’s. I was so disgusted. I put my vegetables in the cart and to know this dog’s dirty feet and behind could have been in my cart prior just grosses me out.
This is what is wrong with today’s society. People break the law and then yell at everyone to get a life who complain. The world will continue to turn into a sh*thole if lawbreakers win out.
