BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A man from Berkley, Massachusetts is facing 19 charges related to working is a fake contractor in Boca Raton and across Palm Beach County. Lal Diegidio remains in the Palm Beach County Jail Monday morning.

According to charging documents reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Diegidio did not hold contractor licenses — or insurance — as he regularly performed work across the area, then vanished after asking a homeowner for more money before completing a job. Investigators allege that Diegidio routinely started work, demanded more money to finish the work, then spent that money in area casinos.

When the homeowners who expected him to complete the work called him, he often claimed he was in another state dealing with a loved one’s illness, or was ill himself. State investigators, however, were able to track him down to several locations across South Florida.

Diegidio is charged with multiple counts of larceny, fraud, and contracting without a license. He is being held in the Palm Beach County Jail on more than $15,000 bond.
