BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Local ABC stations in South Florida are fortunately not owned by Sinclair Broadcasting or Nexstar Broadcasting. (Sinclair does own WPEC-TV in West Palm Beach, a CBS affiliate). That means neither mega-company will be censoring ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel when he returns to the airwaves Tuesday night.
But for any of our readers who happen to be on the road Tuesday night and trying to figure out how to watch Jimmy Kimmel Live without having to wait for clips on YouTube, we suggest one of our sponsors: SurfShark. By way of disclosure, we can’t guarantee that what we’re about to share will work everywhere, and yes, we’ll make a few bucks if you initiate a subscription. But in the interest of community service and doing everything we can to support free speech, we say using a VPN is likely the way to go.
A VPN or “Virtual Private Network” is often a great way to avoid local restrictions placed on your internet use, while also masking your location. While law enforcement can often work around these tools, streaming services often do not — which makes them a great way to convince the YouTube TVs and Hulu’s of the world that you are somewhere where you may not be. The goal: if you are unfortunately living in a market where Sinclair or Nexstar operates an ABC station and has decided you are not allowed to watch Jimmy Kimmel, this may be a work around.
Using SurfShark’s interface, select a place where an ABC television station exists that is not controlled by Sinclair or Nexstar. We suggest New York City or Los Angeles — ABC owns and operates television stations in both of those locations. If you’re on a device with built-in cellular service, we suggest turning OFF the cellular service and only relying on WiFi.
Once you connect your VPN to another city, re-establish your YouTube TV, Hulu, or other streaming service and see if your “local” television stations are now the stations in the city that you selected for your VPN. If you selected New York City, you should see WABC-TV. If you selected Los Angeles, you should see KABC-TV. This is the same type of system used by airlines and why you can be flying from Tulsa to Atlanta but watching WABC-TV out of New York City on the screen in front of you.
We caution that there is no guarantee this will work, but with a 30-day free trial for SurfShark, you have nothing to lose. Sinclair and Nexstar created a problem. This may be one way to solve it if you love free speech and believe no broadcast company should be censoring what you are allowed to see or hear.

This article is really helpful for those who want to watch Jimmy Kimmel without censorship. The VPN suggestion is a great workaround, though I hope its effective for everyone. Good job keeping people informed about their options!
