BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There is a major hazardous materials situation underway in unincorporated Boca Raton as of noon on Wednesday. A swimming pool maintenance truck was in a crash which led to a chlorine spill.
A regional HazMat team is on the scene and dealing with the situation. We are unaware of evacuations and it is not immediately clear how big the spill or leak is. We do know that roughly 15 emergency units were sent to the scene from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, the City of Boca Raton, and the City of Delray Beach. The staging location is in the area of Palmetto Circle North and Powerline Road.
Expect major traffic delays in the area for at least part of the afternoon. While HazMat teams work quickly in the area, it is a tedious process that make take several hours. We will update once we learn more.
