DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Kings Point Golf and Country Club is facing a lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court by a resident who claims he was critically injured while entering the Kings Point property.

According to the complaint obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, John Oprea was entering the premises on December 18, 2024 while riding his electric bicycle. The suit claims that the automatic gate malfunctioned and struck Opera, “resulting in significant and permanent injuries.”

Adds the suit: “The improperly maintained and/or malfunctioning gate and sensors constituted a dangerous condition. The dangerous condition existed for such a length of time that, in the exercise of reasonable and ordinary care, Defendant Kings Point Golf and Country Club should have known about the condition.”

Opera, who claims bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, and mental anguish, is seeking in excess of $50,000 — the statutory minimum for filing a lawsuit in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. He is represented by Jimenez Mazzitelli Mordes of Miami.

Attorneys have not yet been recorded by the Palm Beach County Clerk of Court’s office for Kings Point Golf and Country Club and Kings Point Recreation Corporation, both are listed as defendants.
