UPDATE 11:07 a.m. — Roads near both incidents are starting to reopen.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Two separate but significant events are closing roads in Boca Raton late Thursday morning.
A report of fumes or gas rising from a manhole has turned into quite a scene in the area of NW 2nd Avenue and NW 2nd Street. Roads in the area are closed as FPL is trying to deal with what may be an underground electrical problem. Several businesses in the area are — and apparently will be — without power for quite some time.
And a car fire in the area of 199 NW 20th Street closed roads in that area for a while Thursday morning. Boca Raton Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and extinguished a burning white sedan. No injuries were reported. We expect all roads to be reopened within the next hour or two.
