>> Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit are investigating a motorcycle crash that left a man dead Sunday night in Lauderdale Lakes.

At approximately 7:34 p.m., on Sept. 28, Broward County Regional Communications received a call reporting a crash near the 3500 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard in Lauderdale Lakes. BSO district deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded. On scene, they discovered a crash occurred involving a 2001 Triumph Sprint motorcycle and a 2020 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Paramedics pronounced the motorcyclist, an adult male, deceased on scene. BSO THI detectives responded to investigate.

According to the preliminary investigation, Amboise Blaise, 70, of Boca Raton was driving the pickup truck traveling eastbound on West Oakland Park Boulevard preparing to make a U-turn to head back westbound. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound within the center lane of West Oakland Park Boulevard approaching the 3500 block.

Investigators say as the pickup truck proceeded to make the left-hand U-turn, it pulled into the motorcyclist’s path of travel. The motorcyclist applied the rear brake and attempted to avoid striking the pickup truck and low sided. The motorcyclist and the motorcycle slid into the passenger side of the pickup truck.

Detectives say neither excessive speed nor impairment are considered to be contributing factors to the cause of the crash.   The investigation continues. <<
