Previous Charges For DUI And Domestic Abuse.

TALLAHASSE, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — – State officials announced Saturday the arrest of a Miami-Dade business owner for an insurance fraud scheme that allegedly cost an insurer more than $383,000. Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said Jose Arias-Reyes, president of AR Carpentry Services Inc., was taken into custody for concealing his company’s payroll to illegally lower his workers’ compensation insurance premiums. The arrest was made with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations.
According to the Department of Financial Services, Arias-Reyes fraudulently underreported his company’s payroll to his insurance provider. This allowed him to pay a premium of only $5,065 for workers’ compensation insurance. Investigators allege that based on his actual payroll, he should have paid $388,693. The case is now set to be prosecuted by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office.
In the announcement, officials identified Arias-Reyes as a “criminal illegal alien” with two prior removals from the United States and two illegal re-entries. The CFO’s office also noted he has previous U. S. convictions for domestic assault and driving under the influence. In addition to the state fraud charge, Homeland Security Investigations will seek federal prosecution for illegal re-entry.
“Jose Arias-Reyes had no legal right to be in this country, and his arrest is a victory for hard-working Floridians who voted for President Trump’s directive to remove illegal aliens from our communities,” Ingoglia said in a statement. “Florida does not tolerate illegal immigration, nor do we tolerate criminals who take advantage of the system. We will continue working with our statewide law enforcement partners to hold these offenders accountable and fight back against illegal immigration.”
The Department of Financial Services is encouraging anyone who knows of potential insurance fraud to report it. Tips can be submitted through the department’s website at FraudFreeFlorida.com.
