With SNAP Set To Expire, JFS Helping, Asking For Help.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — In response to the government shutdown and loss of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Benefits, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (Rales JFS) is asking the community to donate to the Jacobson Family Food Pantry.
The Jacobson Family Food Pantry is located at 430 S. Congress Avenue, Unit 1C, Delray Beach, Fl 33445. Almost 30 years ago, the pantry opened its doors, providing for those who are lacking the means to afford basic necessities. The SNAP benefits, set to lapse on November 1, will greatly impact individuals and families living with low incomes.
The Jacobson Family Food Pantry, a program of Rales JFS, is already seeing a surge in demand as families brace for the loss of this critical support. With the average SNAP benefit covering only half a month’s worth of groceries, the pantry is stepping in to fill the gap — but it cannot do so alone.
“We are deeply concerned about the impact this will have on our most vulnerable neighbors,” said Danielle N. Hartman, President & CEO at Rales JFS. “The pantry is a lifeline for hundreds of families, seniors, and individuals who are already struggling to make ends meet. We are calling on the community to help us meet this urgent need.”
Community members can support the Jacobson Family Food Pantry by making a monetary donation, organizing a food drive, or volunteering their time. Every dollar makes a difference — just $25 can provide a family with a week’s worth of groceries. Through programs like the Jacobson Family Food Pantry, Rales JFS is committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry.
Food donations can be dropped off at the Jacobson Family Food Pantry, Rales JFS Main Office at 21300 Ruth & Baron Coleman Blvd. Boca Raton, or the Shirley & Barton Weisman Delray Community Center at 7091 W. Atlantic Blvd., Delray Beach. For those that wish to shop online and have the food shipped directly to the pantry, visit https://ralesjfs.org/amazonfoodlist.
