UPDATE AT 2:36 p.m. on NOVEMBER 6, 2025: The beach has been reopened. The bacteria levels are “normal.”

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — State health officials have issued a health advisory for Spanish River Beach after recent tests revealed high levels of bacteria in the water. As a precaution, officials have prohibited all swimming at South Inlet Beach until further notice.

The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County announced the advisory following a routine water quality sampling. Those tests showed elevated bacterial levels, prompting the “no swimming” order to protect the health of residents and visitors.

While Spanish River Beach is located within Boca Raton’s city limits, it is operated by Palm Beach County. Officials clarified that the advisory only applies to water activities. The park and beach areas will remain open for visitors who wish to stay on the sand.

Health department officials are already working to resolve the issue. Additional water samples are being collected for testing, and authorities say they hope to lift the swimming ban within the next 24 to 48 hours, pending clear results.
