BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The list of airports to experience flight cuts and other issues is out, and Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport is on it. That means anyone flying in or out of FLL should prepare for massive delays or flight cancellations as the government shutdown drags on.
The preliminary list also includes Miami International but does not include Palm Beach International Airport.
Even though PBI is not on the list, note that Atlanta, Charlotte, and Dallas are on the list. They are all major hubs that flights from PBI connect to throughout the day. All airports in New York City (LGA/JFL/EWR) are also on the list — so don’t believe your flights will be problem-free if you’re flying in or out of West Palm Beach.
Airlines are already issuing waivers and refund options for travelers set to fly into or out of the affected airports. Expect significant delays even if your flight isn’t canceled. As of Thursday morning, several airports are already showing major ground delays with Newark topping the list with 105 minute departure delays. The major problems are expected to start nationwide on Friday.
