The violent encounter, which occurred inside a vehicle, has resulted in first-degree murder charges for a man who claimed to be the victim’s long-term partner.
BocaNewsNow.com has learned that emergency crews responded to a medical call shortly before 7 p.m. on November 14th near a residence in the 3300 block of Northwest 37th Street. When deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived on the scene, they discovered an individual in the front passenger seat of a car suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics rushed the victim to Broward Health Medical Center for emergency treatment, but she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Deputies at the scene immediately took the suspect, identified as Shanoyd Whyte Jr., into custody and recovered a firearm. According to investigators, the shooting stemmed from a verbal argument between the two that turned physical inside Whyte Jr.’s vehicle. The victim was shot while still sitting in the car during the altercation. Whyte Jr. allegedly told detectives that he and the victim had been involved in a romantic relationship for several years.
Whyte Jr. was subsequently transported to the Broward Sheriff’s Office Main Jail. He is now facing a charge of first-degree murder with a firearm as Homicide and Crime Scene units continue to investigate the specific circumstances surrounding the deadly incident.
