INTERSTATE 95
Advanced Wrong-Way Driving Safety Improvements – Broward & Palm Beach Counties
Scope: Installation of flashing beacons, wrong-way signage, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) devices at 23 exit ramps on the State Highway System. The work includes:
- Wrong-way driver detection to help prevent serious injury crashes
- Integration of the system and ITS devices with the Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) to alert motorists and notify law enforcement
- Upgrading wrong-way signage and pavement markings to extend pavement life and improve visibility
Cost/Completion: $5,626,065 – Project was Final Accepted November 13, 2025.

S.R. 9/I-95 at S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange Improvements
Location: S.R. 9/I-95 just north and south of Boynton Beach Boulevard, including on- and off-ramps, plus Boynton Beach Boulevard from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue in Boynton Beach. Project began Monday, Aug. 11, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Widening the S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard bridge over I-95 to add dual left-turn lanes to I-95 northbound and southbound
- Adding additional turn lanes on I-95 northbound and southbound on- and off-ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard
- Adding a third westbound through lane on Boynton Beach Boulevard at the I-95 interchange
- Milling and repaving throughout project limits to improve resilience and safety
- Constructing 5- to 7-foot bicycle lanes in each direction
- Replacing traffic signal mast arms at Old Boynton Road, W. Industrial Avenue, and the I-95 ramps
- Installing traffic monitoring cameras and wrong-way detection devices
- Upgrading curb ramps and building 8-foot sidewalks
- Retrofitting and installing LED lighting along the corridor
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings, including bicycle markings

To minimize Thanksgiving impacts, no lane or shoulder closures are permitted Wednesday, Nov. 26, through midnight Sunday, Nov. 30.
Boynton Beach Boulevard – Traffic Impacts
- Boynton Beach Boulevard from Old Boynton Road to NW 3rd Avenue may have one lane closed in each direction, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025, for bridge construction and ramp widening.
- The westbound turn lane from Boynton Beach Boulevard to the I-95 southbound entrance ramp may be closed 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025.
- Detour: Use W. Industrial Avenue (just west of the interchange) to U-turn to eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard to access the I-95 southbound entrance ramp.
- Drivers are urged to proceed with caution and allow extra travel time as new traffic patterns are implemented.
I-95 Mainline – Traffic Impacts
- One lane of I-95 in each direction may close starting at 8 p.m., with up to three lanes closed in each direction from 10 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025, for bridge and ramp work.
- A fourth lane may be closed overnight in each direction as needed.
- Motorists should use caution and expect changing traffic patterns.
I-95 Ramp Impacts
- I-95 entrance and exit ramps at Boynton Beach Boulevard may have one lane closed nightly, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday through Fall 2025. One lane on each ramp will remain open.
Full I-95 Ramp Closures (One Ramp at a Time)
- Northbound I-95 exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard may close 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025.
- Detour: Exit at Woolbright Road, go east to U.S. 1, then north to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- Southbound I-95 exit ramp to Boynton Beach Boulevard may close 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025.
- Detour: Exit at Gateway Boulevard, go east to U.S. 1, then south to Boynton Beach Boulevard.
- Northbound I-95 entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard may close 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025.
- Detour: From Boynton Beach Boulevard, go east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then north to Gateway Boulevard to access I-95.
- Southbound I-95 entrance ramp from Boynton Beach Boulevard may close 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025.
- Detour: From Boynton Beach Boulevard, go east to U.S. 1 or west to Congress Avenue, then south to Woolbright Road to access I-95.
Only one ramp at the Boynton Beach Boulevard interchange is allowed to close at a time.
SOUTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY PROJECTS
(Boca Raton, Highland Beach, Delray Beach)
U.S. 441/S.R. 7 Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR)
Location: U.S. 441/S.R. 7 from north of S.R. 808/Glades Road to north of Bridgebrook Drive. Project began July 7, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and repaving roadway and shoulders to improve safety and resilience
- Restriping to provide 7-foot bicycle lanes in each direction
- Constructing a new 6-foot sidewalk on the east side of U.S. 441/S.R. 7 from West Boca Plaza to Kimberly Boulevard
- Upgrading curb ramps and replacing sidewalk sections
- Upgrading pedestrian signals with LED countdowns at Kimberly Boulevard, New England Boulevard, C.R. 794/Yamato Road, Boca Chase Drive/Boca Gardens Parkway, and Clint Moore Road
- Upgrading crosswalk lighting at all signalized intersections
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings, including green bicycle markings at right-turn lanes

- One outside lane in each direction from just north of Bridgebrook Drive to just south of West Boca Plaza will close intermittently from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, and Monday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 5, for swale, lighting, curb and sidewalk work and sign installation.
- Two lanes in each direction, side streets and intersections from north of Glades Road to north of Clint Moore Road may close non-simultaneously, nightly Sunday and Monday, and again Sunday, Nov. 30 through Thursday, Dec. 4, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m., for loop installation and striping.

S.R. 794/Yamato Road Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation
Location: S.R. 794/Yamato Road from east of I-95 to U.S. 1/Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Project began February 11, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and repaving within project limits
- Upgrading curb ramps and replacing select sidewalk sections
- Replacing traffic signal mast arms at NW 2nd Avenue
- Upgrading roadway lighting and installing LED countdown pedestrian signals at NW 2nd Avenue and Dixie Highway
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings

S.R. A1A/S. Ocean Boulevard Roadway Improvements – Delray Beach
Location: S.R. A1A/S. Ocean Boulevard from south of C.R. 782/East Linton Boulevard to north of S.R. 806/East Atlantic Avenue. Work began June 24, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and repaving from East Linton Boulevard to Casuarina Road and at Nassau Street
- Upgrading curb ramps and sidewalk sections
- Regrading swales between White Drive and Brooks Lane, and at Carissa Road
- Upgrading the pedestrian signal at Casuarina Road
- Installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) at Rhodes Villa Avenue, Bucida Road, Anchor Park, Nassau Street, and north of Ingraham Avenue
- Upgrading lighting to LED fixtures at key intersections and crosswalks
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings, including green bicycle markings at the southbound A1A to westbound Linton Boulevard intersection

S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard Resurfacing – Highland Beach & Delray Beach
Location: Town of Highland Beach and City of Delray Beach. Work began May 29, 2024.
Work Includes:
- Milling and resurfacing the roadway
- Widening in each direction to provide 5-foot bicycle lanes
- Swale modifications for drainage
- Upgrading signing and pavement markings

- Southbound lane from 1708 S. Ocean Blvd (Delray Beach) to 4801 S. Ocean Blvd (Highland Beach) will close intermittently 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, and Monday through Friday for swale, irrigation, sodding, paver, sidewalk and paving work. Flaggers will direct traffic.
- Northbound lane from 4801 S. Ocean Blvd (Highland Beach) to 1708 S. Ocean Blvd (Delray Beach) will close intermittently 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, and Monday through Friday for swale, irrigation, sodding, paving and paver driveway work.

S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue Reconstruction – West of U.S. 441 to East of Florida’s Turnpike
Location: S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue from west of U.S. 441/S.R. 7 to just east of Florida’s Turnpike, and U.S. 441/S.R. 7 from just south of Rio Grande Avenue to just south of Tivoli Isles Boulevard in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. Work began January 20, 2025.
Major Work Includes:
- Widening Atlantic Avenue:
- From west of U.S. 441 to east of Lyons Road: 2 to 4 lanes
- From Lyons Road to east of Turnpike: 4 to 6 lanes
- Expanding U.S. 441/S.R. 7 & Atlantic Avenue intersection for more through and turn lanes
- Expanding Lyons Road & Atlantic Avenue intersection to add three through lanes in each direction, dual left-turn lanes and single right-turn lanes
- Building continuous 6-foot sidewalks and 7-foot buffered bike lanes from U.S. 441 to east of Lyons Road; adding an 8-foot sidewalk westbound from east of Lyons Road to west of the Turnpike
- Reconfiguring the Atlantic Avenue bridge over the E-1 canal to accommodate an eastbound sidewalk
- Relocating the L-34 canal about 60 feet south to accommodate widening and drainage
- Expanding Smith Sundy Road intersection to align with a future county project
- Upgrading drainage, signage, lighting, signalization and pavement markings throughout the corridor
- Installing fiber optic cable to interconnect signals and improve real-time traffic management

U.S. 441/S.R. 7 – Traffic Impacts
- No lane closures Saturday, November 22 through Friday, November 28.
- One northbound lane may close from Rio Grande Avenue to just south of Atlantic Avenue, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for roadway widening.
- One northbound lane may close from just north of Atlantic Avenue to Tivoli Isles Boulevard, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for widening.
- One southbound lane may close from Tivoli Isles Boulevard to just north of Atlantic Avenue, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for widening.
- One southbound lane may close from just south of Atlantic Avenue to just south of 105th Drive South, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for widening.
- One eastbound turn lane on Atlantic Avenue may close from the Wawa back entrance to U.S. 441, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for widening.
- The northbound sidewalk between Atlantic Avenue and Saturnia Isles Boulevard is closed; pedestrians are detoured to the southbound sidewalk. Motorists exiting Rio Grande must go south due to work north of their community.

S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue – Traffic Impacts
- One lane in each direction may close from Lyons Road to the Turnpike, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for widening.
- One lane in each direction may close from Lyons Road to the Turnpike, 9 p.m. – 7 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for milling and resurfacing.
- One lane in each direction may close between U.S. 441 and Lyons Road, 8:30 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for force main installation. Flaggers will guide traffic.
- The westbound sidewalk on the north side of Atlantic Avenue from Lyons Road to the Turnpike is closed; pedestrians are detoured to the eastbound sidewalk on the south side.

S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue & Homewood Boulevard and S.R. 704/Okeechobee Boulevard & Haverhill Road Intersection Improvements
Location: Two intersections in Palm Beach County – Atlantic Avenue & Homewood Boulevard, and Okeechobee Boulevard & Haverhill Road. Project expected to begin October 21, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Replacing traffic signals with mast arms at both intersections
- Extending eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes from Atlantic Avenue to Homewood Boulevard and High Point Boulevard
- Extending the eastbound left-turn lane from Okeechobee Boulevard to N. Haverhill Road
- Upgrading pedestrian signals with LED countdown timers
- Upgrading curb ramps and sidewalks throughout both project areas
- Installing new LED lighting at the Atlantic Avenue & Homewood Boulevard intersection
- Repaving and minor widening along Homewood Boulevard to improve bicycle and roadway facilities

CENTRAL PALM BEACH COUNTY PROJECTS
(Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Royal Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Palm Beach)
S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation
Location: S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard from U.S. 441/S.R. 7 to Lyons Road. Project began February 6, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and resurfacing to improve resilience and safety
- Modifying pavement markings to add a 6-foot bicycle lane in each direction
- Constructing a sidewalk on eastbound Boynton Beach Boulevard from U.S. 441/S.R. 7 to east of the E-1 Canal
- Reconstructing the sidewalk in front of Baptist Health Bethesda Hospital West to 10 feet wide
- Upgrading curb ramps, pavement markings, signage and guardrail connections

6th Avenue South Improvements at S.R. 9/I-95 – Lake Worth Beach
Location: 6th Avenue South at I-95 in Lake Worth Beach. Project began November 13, 2023.
Work Includes:
- Lengthening turn lanes on 6th Avenue South
- Adding an exclusive right-turn lane to the I-95 northbound on-ramp
- Adding an additional right-turn lane to the I-95 southbound on-ramp
- Lengthening the northbound left-turn lane at A Street
- Building 6-foot sidewalks and 7-foot bicycle lanes on both sides
- Installing wrong-way driving countermeasures on I-95 exit ramps
- Building 16-foot sound walls along the I-95 northbound exit ramp and south side of 6th Avenue South
- Constructing new gravity wall, curb and gutter, traffic separator, median barrier, sidewalk and driveways
- Upgrading drainage, signage, lighting, signalization, pavement markings and ITS
- Relocating water, sewer and utilities for the City of Lake Worth Beach

Ramp Impacts – I-95
- I-95 entrance and exit ramps at 6th Avenue South may have one lane closed nightly, 8 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights through Fall 2025. One lane remains open.
S.R. 704/Okeechobee Boulevard Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation
Location: S.R. 704/Okeechobee Boulevard from Red Trail to west of Australian Avenue in West Palm Beach. Project began January 29, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling, repaving and restriping
- Upgrading pedestrian signals and lighting to LED at crosswalks
- Replacing in-road sensors and traffic signal backplates
- Installing wrong-way driving detection systems at I-95 exit ramps to Okeechobee Boulevard

S.R. 809/Military Trail at S.R. 882/Forest Hill Boulevard Intersection Improvements
Location: Intersection of S.R. 809/Military Trail and S.R. 882/Forest Hill Boulevard in Palm Beach County. Project began September 6, 2022.
Work Includes:
- Widening, milling, and resurfacing on both roads
- Adding additional right- and left-turn lanes on Military Trail and additional right-turn lanes on Forest Hill Boulevard
- Installing 5-foot bike lanes at various locations along Forest Hill Boulevard
- Improving sidewalks and driveways at the intersection
- Installing four new signal mast arms
- Installing new signage and pavement markings

Intersection Lighting Retrofit Improvements – 22 Intersections
Location: 22 intersections in cities across Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie counties. Project began December 9, 2024.
Work Includes:
- Upgrading lighting to LED fixtures
- Retrofitting existing light poles
Goal is to create a safer, more energy-efficient and resilient transportation environment.
Cost/Completion: $1,017,434 / Final Accepted November 17, 2025 by FDOT.

Location: S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from S.R. 802/Lake Avenue to Ibis Way in Lake Worth Beach and the Town of Palm Beach. Project began Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and repaving
- Widening 2 to 5 feet in both directions to provide 5-foot bike lanes in each direction
- Upgrading pedestrian signals with LED countdowns at A1A & Lake Avenue
- Installing a new mast arm at the Palm Beach Par 3 Golf Course and an RRFB at Phipps Ocean Park
- Retrofitting and installing decorative lighting at Lake Avenue, Palm Beach Par 3 and Phipps Ocean Park
- Upgrading curb ramps and replacing sections of sidewalk, including replacing asphalt sidewalk with concrete along the west side of A1A
- Regrading swales for drainage
- Upgrading signage and pavement markings, including green bicycle markings at A1A & Lake Avenue

S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard – Emerald Beach Way to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way
Location: Town of Palm Beach. Project began Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
Work Includes:
- Milling and repaving throughout project limits
- Replacing traffic signals with decorative mast arms at Golfview Rd./Hammon Ave., Worth Ave., and Peruvian Ave., and standard mast arms at the Palm Beach Fire Station and S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way
- Upgrading pedestrian signals with LED countdowns at multiple intersections

- Modifying the roadway to add designated bicycle lanes in each direction

S.R. 710/Beeline Highway Reconstruction – Northlake Boulevard to Blue Heron Boulevard
Location: S.R. 710/Beeline Highway from Northlake Boulevard to S.R. 708/Blue Heron Boulevard through Palm Beach Gardens, Riviera Beach and West Palm Beach. Project began March 18, 2024.
Work Includes:
- Widening Beeline Highway from 4 to 6 lanes
- Replacing and widening the Florida’s Turnpike bridge over Beeline Highway
- Building an at-grade partial Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) at Beeline & Northlake Boulevard
- Adding sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides
- Upgrading railroad crossings, drainage, signage, lighting, signalization and pavement markings

- Lane widths reduced and westbound traffic shifted to the median from just east of the Turnpike to Blue Heron Boulevard.

- One outside southeast-bound lane from south of Haverhill Road to north of Jog Road will close 8 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, for demolition.
- The northwest ramp from Beeline Highway to eastbound Northlake Boulevard is temporarily closed until Spring 2026; motorists can continue on Beeline and turn right at the light to reach eastbound Northlake Boulevard.
- The southeast Beeline left-turn lane to eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard is closed around the clock through April 2026.
Detour for Eastbound Blue Heron Boulevard:
- Motorists heading to eastbound Blue Heron should use southeast Beeline Highway, go north on S.R. 809/Military Trail, then east on Blue Heron Boulevard. Emergency access is maintained. All businesses along Blue Heron remain open.

- Access from northwest-bound Beeline Highway to eastbound Northlake Boulevard has been temporarily shifted; motorists can turn right at the intersection to access eastbound Northlake. This configuration is expected to remain until Spring 2025.
- Northlake Boulevard lanes at the Beeline intersection have been shifted and U-turns in both directions are not available until Winter 2026.

S.R. 91/Florida’s Turnpike – Traffic Impacts:

- Adding a second left-turn lane at RCA Boulevard
- Installing patterned pavement at intersections

Work Includes:
- Replacing the U.S. 1 bridge over the Earman River
- Widening to add a second right-turn lane from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound Northlake Boulevard
- Milling and resurfacing within project limits
- Adding 4- and 5-foot bicycle lanes in both directions
- Upgrading drainage, signage, lighting, signalization, curb ramps, pavement markings and ITS
- Installing benches and planters to improve public spaces

Location: S.R. A1A from south of the John D. MacArthur State Park entrance to Portage Landing North. Project began February 17, 2025.

- Widening shoulders to provide 4- to 8-foot bike lanes in each direction
- Reconstructing curb ramps to ADA standards
- Replacing mast arm traffic signals to meet hurricane design standards

- Intersection improvements at Alternate A1A and Old Dixie Highway, including a shift to the southwest, a new traffic signal and longer left-turn lane

Location: S.R. 700/Conners Highway from north of 1st Street to west of S.R. 80. Construction began May 1, 2024.

- Replacing and upgrading curb ramps to ADA standards
- Installing rumble strips where speeds exceed 50 mph
- Minor shoulder widening
- Installing, upgrading and repairing guardrail
