Don’t expect to see Palm Beach County School District buses today.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The roads will be slightly less congested today in Palm Beach County as buses for the Palm Beach County School District will largely be off the roads. The reason: public schools are now closed for the Thanksgiving break.

While at least one area private school — American Heritage — remains open today and tomorrow, most other schools are closed through the end of the week. American Heritage, the top-ranked private school in Florida, opted for two days of education this holiday week. That private school officially closes for Thanksgiving Tuesday afternoon.

Palm Beach County School District buses are used for special education programs that continue despite the holiday, so it is likely you’ll see some buses for the school district as you commute to or from work.

Public school resumes on Monday, December 1st, and continues through December 19th — when winter break begins. Public schools then do not resume again until January 6th, 2026.
