DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A 70-year-old Delray Beach man is facing multiple serious charges, including a “fourth or subsequent DUI” offense and cocaine possession, following a collision on November 18th. Israel Rodriguez, of Sunrise Blvd. in Delray Beach, was taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office after deputies responded to a crash at the intersection of State Road 7 and Boynton Beach Boulevard.
According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, deputies arrived at the scene around 9:30 p.m. to find Rodriguez standing next to a white Toyota pickup truck. Rodriguez allegedly told investigators he was driving southbound on State Road 7 when he “got behind another vehicle” and then only remembered seeing people exit that car. Deputies noted that Rodriguez exhibited signs of impairment, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and an unsteady gait. He allegedly refused to perform roadside sobriety exercises adequately, struggling to follow instructions and nearly falling over, and later refused to provide a breath sample.
During a subsequent search of Rodriguez’s property at the Breath and Alcohol Testing Center, investigators discovered a small clear plastic bag containing a white powder tucked between dollar bills in his wallet. A field test confirmed the substance was cocaine, weighing approximately 6.6 grams. The arrest report indicates Rodriguez has a history of driving under the influence, leading to the enhanced felony charge.

Rodriguez was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on charges of DUI (4th or subsequent offense), possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, refusal to submit to DUI testing, and resisting an officer. He remains held on bond, with a court date scheduled for December 18, 2025. Bond was set at more than $65,000 which was eventually posted. A court date is pending.
