LANTANA, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening in a collision in Lantana, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The crash occurred shortly before 7 p.m. in the 6200 block of South Congress Avenue.

Investigators say Clifton Donald Jackson, 50, of Stuart, was driving a 2003 GMC Sierra southbound on South Congress Avenue. He was positioned in the inside left turn lane, attempting to turn east into the Atlantis Plaza. At the same time, Joshua R. Rene, 39, of Lantana, was riding a 2013 Harley Davidson northbound in the outside lane.

According to the police report, Jackson failed to see the oncoming motorcycle and turned left directly in front of it. The GMC Sierra struck the Harley Davidson, impacting the fender and hood near the front passenger tire. The force of the collision threw Rene from the bike, landing him in the outside northbound lane where the motorcycle also came to rest.

Rene, who was wearing a helmet, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured. The investigation continues.
