PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Diocese of Palm Beach is facing a lawsuit after a student at All Saints Catholic School in Jupiter allegedly suffered a severe injury on a playing field. The complaint, filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court on November 25, 2025, claims the minor child required nearly two dozen stitches after colliding with a jagged metal post.
According to the filing obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the incident occurred on October 22, 2024, while the student was playing football with friends in an open field on the school’s campus. The lawsuit alleges that while attempting to catch a ball, the student ran into a sharp, dark green post that was protruding from the ground at an angle near metal light fixtures. The suit describes the object as having “extremely jagged edges”.
Following the collision, the student was rushed to Jupiter Medical Center to treat a “massive laceration” to the right lower leg and knee. Attorneys for the family state that the child received approximately 23 stitches to close the wound. The complaint asserts that the injury has resulted in a significant permanent scar, loss of sensation in the area, and ongoing sensitivity to sunlight.
The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of the Diocese for failing to maintain the property in a safe condition. Notably, the filing claims that staff members at All Saints Catholic School had previously informed administration that the jagged poles posed a dangerous condition that needed to be addressed to avoid injury to students. The plaintiffs argue the school failed to correct the hazard or warn students about the hidden danger.
The suit, which seeks damages in excess of $50,000, demands a trial by jury. The plaintiff is represented by the Law Offices of Thompson & Thomas, P. A. of West Palm Beach. The Diocese of Palm Beach is the named defendant in the action.
