TEXT MAY COME FROM 954-287-3108. IT’S NOT LEGIT.
BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — If you receive a text message offering you help with housework — and the ability to pay later — delete it. It appears to be a scam. Never do business with someone who randomly texts you.
The text message often may look like this: “yo (your name). This isn’t some ad – just wanted to see if you still need help fixing stuff around the house without paying now.” We’ve received the message a few times, originating from 954-287-3108. The person who answered when we called back was drowned out initially by someone speaking in a language we did not understand. When we asked the person who he was, he told us that we called him so we should tell him who we were.
When we told him it was BocaNewsNow.com, he suddenly was disinterested in speaking with us. When we asked about his business, there was silence. When we asked why he was texting people without permission — illegal under federal law — he hung up.
Local police constantly warn residents and visitors to be aware of scams and to never do business with people who send unsolicited text messages or make unsolicited calls. And of course, never let anyone in your home who you don’t know. Concerned? Never hesitate to call police.
