One Person Dead In Unincorporated Boynton. Here’s What We Know.

One person was found dead.
BocaNewsNow.com was first to report on the shooting which several first responders initially believed involved a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Deputy who had been shot multiple times. That turned out to be incorrect. The off-duty deputy was not shot, but apparently shot someone during an altercation. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is limited in what it can say once a deputy is under investigation by the State of Florida. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement traditionally says very little until a preliminary investigative report is complete.
“At the request of the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), FDLE is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that took place Saturday evening in Boynton Beach,” said a spokesperson to BocaNewsNow.com. “FDLE’s investigation is limited to the deputy’s use of force. The investigation is active, therefore, additional information will not be provided at this time.”
BocaNewsNow.com, however, has learned the shooting took place on Water Course Way which is east of Jog Road and just north of Boynton Beach Boulevard. The shooting location is near the home of someone granted a “confidential” listing with the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser. While we have obtained the name of the homeowner, we are complying with the confidentiality request at this time. Homeowners with ‘confidential’ listings are normally law enforcement or law enforcement-adjacent. Witnesses do report seeing a PBSO police vehicle in the driveway of a home near the shooting location — prior to the emergency response.
One person died in the shooting and another person nearby, according to sources, may have suffered a major medical event in the minutes after the shooting took place. That person’s condition — and relationship to the initial incident — remains unclear. While names are often released following a deputy-involved or police-involved shooting in South Florida, PBSO has not yet released the name of the deputy involved in this incident.
