USAA Insurance Fraud Arrest

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An 84-year-old Boynton Beach woman is facing a felony charge after state investigators allege she submitted doctored receipts to support a $45,000 insurance claim for jewelry she said disappeared during a flight. Louise Leslie Waxman Feinstein, of Dorchester Road, was charged with filing a false and fraudulent insurance claim following an investigation by the Florida Department of Financial Services.

According to the arrest report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Feinstein filed a claim with USAA Insurance on December 20, 2024, reporting that various items—including a Cartier watch, a diamond ring, and a bracelet—were stolen while she was traveling from Florida to Ohio. Investigators say Feinstein submitted altered invoices to boost the value of the missing items, such as changing a $3,700 receipt for a Cartier Ballon Bleu watch to read $8,700, and manually changing the description on a bracelet receipt from “sapphire” to “diamond”.

When confronted by detectives, Feinstein allegedly admitted to modifying the documents, reportedly telling investigators that she “has a bad habit of writing on receipts”. She further explained that she believed the alterations should not matter because her actual loss exceeded her policy limits, claiming the photos she submitted were taken from a jewelry catalog rather than depicting the actual items she owned.

Jewelry store owners confirmed to police that they did not alter the pricing or descriptions on the receipts provided by Feinstein. Feinstein was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on November 25th and later released on $5000 bond.
