Michael Dority Gee, 28, was arrested early Monday morning following the Sunday night incident at the Woolbright Bridge in Boynton Beach. Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers report that the vessel eventually sank south of the bridge.

According to investigators in a report reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, Gee was operating the vessel around 7:17 p.m. when it struck the Woolbright Bridge and then crashed into private dock pilings. The impact was severe enough to eject a female passenger into the water, resulting in injuries to her head, back, arms, and foot. Witnesses told authorities that Gee fled the scene immediately after the crash without stopping to provide aid or contacting emergency services, despite being pursued by other boaters.

FWC officers arrived at the scene by water to find Boynton Beach Fire Rescue already assisting with a sunken boat and a dog involved in the accident. Both Gee and his passenger were eventually located and airlifted to Delray Medical Center by Delray Beach Police. While at the hospital, a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Lieutenant interviewed Gee, and investigators later utilized sworn witness statements and video evidence to establish him as the operator at the time of the collision.

Court records indicate he was held on a bond of $50,000 for the felony injury charge. He remains locked up Tuesday.
