
BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Authorities are investigating a New Year’s Eve shooting in Tamarac that left a teenager hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and an adult female wounded. The incident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. Wednesday in the 7900 block of Northwest 71st Avenue, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel arrived at the scene to find a teenage male suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics immediately transported him to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Officials confirmed an adult female also sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter, though her injuries were treated on-site by first responders.
One adult male was detained by deputies at the scene as the investigation began. Detectives have not yet released the names of the individuals involved or a potential motive for the violence. The area remained cordoned off late into the night as investigators processed evidence and interviewed witnesses.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes and Crime Scene units have taken the lead on the case. No formal charges have been announced as of early Thursday morning.
