BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — An 81-year-old Michigan man was arrested for DUI in Boca Raton after allegedly sideswiping another vehicle and failing to stop until confronted in a nearby parking lot. According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Steven Jay Solomon of Franklin, Michigan, was driving a blue Chevy Equinox eastbound on Glades Road when he reportedly struck a white Mercedes. Instead of stopping at the scene of the collision, Solomon allegedly continued driving before turning onto Powerline Road and finally pulling into the Lemongrass Hot Pot parking lot.

The responding deputy reported that Solomon appeared unsteady on his feet and was leaning against his vehicle for support upon their arrival. The arrest report notes an obvious odor of alcohol coming from Solomon, which intensified as he spoke. Deputies indicated that the octogenarian had significant difficulty following instructions during the encounter and was unable to successfully complete several roadside sobriety tasks.

Breath tests administered at a testing facility later that evening resulted in two identical blood alcohol content readings of .060. While these readings are below Florida’s legal limit of .08, investigators requested and obtained a urine sample for further analysis, which is currently pending. During the intake process, Solomon reportedly mentioned having several medical conditions.

Solomon was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on December 21st on a charge of DUI. He has since been released and is scheduled to appear before a judge on January 15, 2026. He lists an address in Franklin, Michigan as his home.
