LAKE WORTH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A months-long investigation into a fatal hit-and-run in Lake Worth has been closed following a confession from the driver involved. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office reports that the individual responsible for the September 2025 crash was identified and the vehicle recovered earlier this week. Investigators tell BocaNewsNow.com that the driver provided a full confession regarding the incident.
The original crash occurred just after midnight on September 3, 2025, in the 2500 block of Lake Worth Road. According to investigators, Athanasia Theodoropoulos was riding her bicycle westbound in the designated bike lane when she attempted to cross the road mid-block. As she moved across the westbound lanes, she entered the path of an oncoming 2005 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
The SUV, which was traveling in the inner lane closest to the median, struck the bicyclist with its front left corner. The impact threw the woman onto the roadway, where she was tragically pronounced dead just minutes later. Rather than stopping to render aid or call for help, the driver of the Ford Explorer fled the scene, continuing westbound on Lake Worth Road.
After more than four months of searching, authorities located and recovered the vehicle on January 8, 2026. The driver has been identified by the Sheriff’s Office as 21-year-old Jenner Arturo Morales Galvez of Lantana. Officials note that formal charges are currently listed as pending.
