BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Broward Sheriff’s Deputy was attacked by a suspect a short time ago in the area of I-95 and Atlantic Boulevard. I-95 Southbound is now completely shut at Atlantic Boulevard. The backup is several miles.
Here’s the official statement issued by BSO around 12:25 p.m. Friday:
>>Around 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 23, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a theft at a business near the 300 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. According to investigators, while on scene the suspect battered a deputy and fled the scene in a vehicle. A pursuit ensued and ended on Interstate 95 southbound just north of Atlantic Boulevard. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.<<
As we reported separately, a crash on the Florida Turnpike is causing major delays southbound in Boynton Beach where a truck drove into a wall and became engulfed in flames.
