Marissa Leah Katz Taken Into Custody. COPS: More Than Three Times Legal Limit.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Boca Raton woman drove her Jeep into a lake Sunday evening while her blood alcohol content was allegedly more than three times the legal limit. Marissa Katz, 45, was charged with driving under the influence after police responded to the scene at 5600 NW 55th Diagonal just before 7 p.m. A witness told officers that a white Jeep approached the intersection at a high rate of speed, failed to slow down, jumped the curb, and plunged into the water. Katz was observed exiting the partially submerged vehicle shortly after the crash. The address is inside Woodfield Country Club.
When officers made contact with Katz near the curb, they noted her eyes were red and glassy and she emitted a strong odor of alcohol. According to the arrest report, Katz displayed a “demanding” demeanor and repeatedly stated she just wanted to go home. She agreed to perform field sobriety exercises but reportedly struggled significantly, swaying during instructions and failing to touch her finger to her nose on multiple attempts. Katz informed officers she was taking prescription medication for anxiety but confirmed she had no physical injuries or defects that would prevent her from performing the tests.

Katz was placed under arrest and transported to the Boca Raton Police Department for breath testing, where she allegedly provided samples registering .288 and 297. These results are more than three and a half times the legal limit of .08 in Florida. Following the breath test, Katz reportedly refused to answer further questions without an attorney present.
Katz, who lists a home address on Windsor Terrace in Boca Raton, was processed for DUI. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and later released pending arraignment on February 23, 2026. We have received a photograph of her vehicle in the lake, but do not know who took it. If it’s you, please let us know so that we can run the photo and give you credit.
