PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Coral Springs woman was arrested late Sunday night after Florida Highway Patrol troopers say she was observed driving on the Florida Turnpike with a missing front tire. Barbara Anne Odell-Bailey, 49, is facing a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs following the traffic stop near the West Palm Beach Service Plaza.

According to the arrest report, troopers received a “Be On The Look Out” (BOLO) alert for a gray Volkswagen that was swerving across the road in the Boynton Beach area. A trooper located the vehicle traveling at a slow speed on its front left rim, completely missing the tire. After the trooper initiated a stop, Odell-Bailey allegedly pulled up to the tractor-trailer diesel pumps and attempted to drive over a concrete median separator before coming to a halt.

Upon making contact with Odell-Bailey, the trooper reported a strong smell of alcohol on her breath and noted that her eyes were bloodshot and glassy. The report states that Odell-Bailey was confused about her location, claiming she was on the Sawgrass Expressway heading to Coral Springs, despite actually being northbound on the Turnpike in Lake Worth. While she reportedly admitted to having a “glass of vodka,” and a cup smelling of alcohol was found in the vehicle, she refused to perform field sobriety exercises.

Odell-Bailey was transported to the Palm Beach County Breath Alcohol Testing facility, where she allegedly refused to provide a breath sample. A background check revealed that her driver’s license had a prior suspension for a DUI refusal in 1998. She was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail early Monday morning and is scheduled for a court appearance on March 3, 2026.
