BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton Friday afternoon made a major announcement regarding dogs on one of its beaches.

Bark Beach, which is a dog-friendly beach, is now open seven days a week. There are several restrictions, but the news is good news for residents and visitors who want a legal way to bring their four legged friends to see the sea and play on the sand.

Here is part of the official announcement. We’ll link to the Bark Beach website at the end of this post:

>>Bark Beach is a dedicated area of beach for your canine friend to run off-leash! As a Bark Beach Dog Entry Permit holder, your dog will have access to Bark Beach at Spanish River Park (3001 N State Road A1A, Boca Raton, FL 33487) located between lifeguard towers 18 and 20. Bark Beach Dog Entry Permits are available from October 1-September 30.

🐾New! Bark Beach Now Open 7 Days a Week Bark Beach is now open seven days a week, giving Bark Beach pass holders more opportunities to enjoy off-leash surf and sand fun with their dogs.
Hours of operation 7 days a week 7-9am 3pm-Sunset (EST) 5pm-Sunset (DST)<<

Permits are $35 a year per dog for a resident and $210 a year per dog for non-residents. It doesn’t matter where the dog believes he or she lives — the dog’s owner’s address is what counts for the pricing calculation.

There are several rules for dogs on Bark Beach:

–The permit holder must carry permit on their person at all times when bringing a dog to the beach. Each dog must have their own permit. Limit of two dogs is allowed per person.
–Have your dog(s) relieve themselves before entering the dog beach; there are restrooms and water fountains located in the park for humans.
— Dogs shall be leashed prior to entering and upon departing the dog beach.
— A person with a dog must be in possession of a device to properly dispose of any fecal matter deposited by their dog.
— Dogs are only permitted in the “Dog friendly area” (between lifeguard towers 18 and 20) on days and times designated – they may run off leash within this area during bark beach hours.
— Dogs shall not dig in the sand.
— Dogs shall not create a nuisance by causing any form of disturbance such as excessive barking, aggressive behavior towards other dogs or people, and/or other undesirable conduct. Permit holders acknowledge they are responsible for their dog and its actions.
