BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — One person was critically injured late Saturday night on I-95 when the car he or she was apparently racing slammed into trees and became engulfed in flames.
Witnesses say at least two cars seemed to be racing on I-95 northbound when one of the cars attempted to exit at Yamato around 11:40 p.m. That car, still traveling at a high rate of speed, slammed into trees and caught on fire. The trees caught on fire as well.
BocaNewsNow.com has learned that multiple people were ejected from the vehicle and were found on the ground by first responders as they approached the scene. Only one person, however, was critically injured. That person was rushed to Delray Medical Center with traumatic injuries. His or her condition was unknown early Sunday morning.
The other vehicle or vehicles involved in the “race” apparently did not stop. We are awaiting an update from Florida Highway Patrol regarding any criminal investigation that may be launched as a result of the crash. Traffic was briefly slowed in the area overnight.
