BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A student at St. Andrew’s School in Boca Raton was allegedly seriously injured when a soccer goal broke and struck her head during practice.
Harper Beck, in a lawsuit just filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court and reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, is now suing the private school for negligence. She is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 — the statutory minimum for filing in Palm Beach County Circuit Court.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on February 7, 2024, at the school’s campus on Jog Road. The filing alleges that Beck, who was a minor at the time, was participating in a preseason practice when Coach Matthew Bellando instructed her and other students to move a soccer goal. While the students were moving the equipment, the goal allegedly broke, and a portion of the goal post hit Beck on the head.
The lawsuit accuses Saint Andrew’s School of failing to properly maintain or inspect the soccer goal, creating an “unreasonably dangerous condition” for students. Attorneys for Beck argue the school was negligent in its supervision by instructing a minor to move defective equipment that the administration knew, or should have known, was hazardous. The complaint also claims that the school failed to warn Beck of the potential danger.
Attorneys for Beck allege that she sustained permanent injuries from the incident, including significant scarring, disfigurement, and disability. Beck is represented by the Brandon Sapp Law firm in Orlando. St. Andrew’s had not filed a response as of mid-day Tuesday.
