ONE PERSON KILLED. TRAUMA HAWK FLIES OTHER PATIENT. AT LEAST FIVE CRITICAL.

UPDATE AT 4:50 p.m. — The Florida Department of Transportation says all lanes are now open. We are still seeing traffic at a standstill. Assuming FDOT is correct, expect significant delays for quite some time as traffic slowly resumes to a normal pace. This was a seven hour closure. Our next update will be a separate post once we receive an official report from Florida Highway Patrol which continues to investigate the fatal crash.
UPDATE AT 4:30 p.m. — All northbound lanes are still closed. Traffic remains slow southbound near the scene.

UPDATE AT 1:15 p.m. — All northbound lanes remain closed.
UPDATE AT 12:01 p.m. — Police tape is now up across the turnpike in the NB lanes at mile marker 90. We expect the northbound turnpike to remain closed for several hours which is typical following a fatal crash. See image, below.
UPDATE AT 11:20 a.m. — All NORTHBOUND lanes remains closed. Southbound appears to moving very slowly.
BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A critical crash on the Florida Turnpike in Boynton Beach required multiple extrications Saturday morning. Trauma Hawk helicopter was dispatched as part of the rescue operation. One person died. At least six people were rushed to area hospitals.
According to initial information shared with BocaNewsNow.com, the crash occurred in the northbound lanes in the area of exit 90. The crash was first reported around 10 a.m. First responders were on the scene minutes later. Trauma Hawk landed on the shoulder of the turnpike around 10:30 a.m.

The specifics of the crash were not immediately clear. Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate. We have learned that at least one person involved was a child. The age of the person who was killed was not immediately known.
