The holiday week is going to be a bad week on Palm Beach County roads. We know the roads to avoid.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — It’s going to be another challenging week on roads in and around Palm Beach County. With thanks to FDOT and Palm Beach County, here is our weekly list of the places you want to avoid, and why:

INTERSTATE 95

1. S.R. 9/I-95 at S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard Interchange Improvements

This 2.354-mile project began Aug. 11, 2025, and includes bridge widening for dual left-turn lanes, ramp capacity increases, and a third through-lane on westbound Boynton Beach Blvd. Improvements include 8-foot sidewalks, LED lighting, and Wrong Way Detection devices.

Cost/Completion: $64 million / Early 2029

Boynton Beach Boulevard Traffic Impacts:

Old Boynton Rd to NW 3rd Ave: Single lane closures in each direction, 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday night through Saturday night.

Westbound to I-95 SB Entrance Ramp: Turn lane may be closed 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday–Thursday. Detour: Use W. Industrial Ave to U-turn to eastbound Boynton Beach Blvd.

I-95 Mainline Impacts:

• One lane closed at 8 p.m., up to three lanes closed 10 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday–Thursday. A fourth lane may close if needed.

I-95 Ramp Impacts:

SB Exit Ramp to Boynton Beach Blvd: Bridge repairs over SFRTA Railroad are underway through Early Spring 2026. No free-flowing right turn lane onto westbound Boynton Beach Blvd; all traffic must stop on red. Inside lane of WB Boynton Beach Blvd is closed; two lanes remain open, shifted to the shoulder.

Nightly Ramp Closures (9 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sunday–Thursday):

NB Exit to Boynton Beach Blvd: Detour via Woolbright Rd to U.S. 1.

SB Exit to Boynton Beach Blvd: Detour via Gateway Blvd to U.S. 1.

NB Entrance from Boynton Beach Blvd: Detour via U.S. 1 or Congress Ave to Gateway Blvd.

SB Entrance from Boynton Beach Blvd: Detour via U.S. 1 or Congress Ave to Woolbright Rd.

• Note: Only one ramp at this interchange may be closed at a time.

2. S.R. 9/I-95 Ramps Safety Improvement Project

Project includes high friction surface installation on ramps at Okeechobee Blvd, PGA Blvd, and Indiantown Rd.

Cost/Completion: $1.2 million / Summer 2026

Advance Notice Closures (8 p.m. – 6 a.m.):

March 2 (NB off-ramp to WB Indiantown Rd): Detour to Indiantown Rd east, U-turn at 68th Terrace N./Island Way.

March 3 (SB off-ramp to EB Indiantown Rd): Detour to Indiantown Rd west, U-turn at Florida Turnpike.

March 4 (NB off-ramp to WB PGA Blvd): Detour to PGA Blvd east, U-turn at Lake Victoria Gardens Ave.

March 5 (NB on-ramp from EB Okeechobee Blvd): Detour east to U-turn at Parker Ave, then west to NB ramp.

SOUTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY

(BOCA RATON, HIGHLAND BEACH, DELRAY BEACH)

3. U.S. 441/S.R. 7 Resurfacing (Glades Rd to Bridgebrook Dr)

Project includes milling, repaving, 7-foot bike lanes, and a new 6-foot sidewalk on the east side from West Boca Plaza to Kimberly Blvd.

Cost/Completion: $9.5 million / Fall 2026

Traffic Impact: Intermittent outside lane closures in each direction, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday–Friday.

4. S.R. A1A/S Ocean Boulevard Improvement Project (Delray Beach)

Work spans south of Linton Blvd to north of E. Atlantic Ave. Includes RRFBs, LED lighting, and drainage upgrades.

Cost/Completion: $2.2 million / Early 2026

Traffic Impact: One lane closed in each direction, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday–Friday. Flaggers will direct traffic.

5. S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard Resurfacing (Highland Beach/Delray Beach)

3.3-mile project widening the road for 5-foot bike lanes and modifying swales.

Cost/Completion: $8.3 million / Early 2026

Traffic Impact: Intermittent lane closures (1708 S Ocean Blvd to 4801 S Ocean Blvd), 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday–Saturday.

6. S.R. 806/Atlantic Avenue Reconstruction Project

Major widening from 2 to 4 lanes (west of U.S. 441 to Lyons Rd) and 4 to 6 lanes (Lyons Rd to the Turnpike). Includes bridge reconfiguration over the LWDD E-1 canal.

Cost/Completion: $26 million / Summer 2028

U.S. 441/S.R. 7 Impacts: Northbound and Southbound single lane closures (7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Mon–Fri) between Rio Grande Ave and Tivoli Isles Blvd. EB turn lane to S.R. 7 may close. NB sidewalk closed; use SB sidewalk.

Atlantic Avenue Impacts: Nightly lane closures (8:30 p.m. – 6 a.m.) between U.S. 441 and Lyons Rd (Thu–Sun) and Lyons Rd to the Turnpike (Sun–Thu). WB sidewalk closed; detour to SB sidewalk.

Smith Sundy Rd: One lane closed nightly (8:30 p.m. – 6 a.m., Mon–Thu).

7. S.R. 806/Atlantic Ave & Homewood Blvd Intersection

Intersection safety project including mast arm replacements and turn lane extensions.

Cost/Completion: $3.2 million / Late 2026

Atlantic Ave/Homewood Blvd: Intermittent lane closures 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Feb 17–20.

Okeechobee Blvd/Haverhill Rd: Intermittent closures for signalization, Feb 17–20. WB and Haverhill Rd (7 a.m. – 5 p.m.); EB and Haverhill Rd SB (9 a.m. – 5 p.m.).

CENTRAL PALM BEACH COUNTY

(BOYNTON BEACH, LAKE WORTH BEACH, WEST PALM BEACH)

8. S.R. 804/Boynton Beach Boulevard Resurfacing

Cost/Completion: $2.7 million / Fall 2026

Traffic Impact: Single outside lane closed nightly (8 p.m. – 6 a.m.), Feb 16–20. Two lanes closed EB from Orchid Grove to Hagen Ranch Rd for polyurethane injection.

9. S.R. A1A at Boynton Inlet Bridge

Cost/Completion: $579,000 / Summer 2026

Traffic Impact: Intermittent lane and sidewalk closures (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.), Feb 17–20.

10. S.R. 5/U.S. 1 Resurfacing (Belvedere Rd to Okeechobee Blvd)

Cost/Completion: $3.9 million / Late 2026

Traffic Impact: All lanes currently open; project begins April 2026.

11. S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard (Lake Worth Beach)

Resurfacing and widening from Lake Ave to Ibis Way.

Cost/Completion: $5.9 million / Summer 2026

Traffic Impact: Flagging operations 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (Mon–Fri) and nightly lane closures near Lake Ave 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. (Sun–Thu) through April 30.

12. S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard (Palm Beach)

Emerald Beach Way to Royal Palm Way.

Cost/Completion: $8.2 million / Late 2026

Traffic Impact: Operations resume Spring 2026. Intermittent flagging 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. New Traffic Pattern: Vehicles inside the Mar-a-Lago traffic circle have the Right-of-Way at all times.

NORTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY

13. U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Roadway Improvements (Riviera Beach/North Palm Beach)

Cost/Completion: $13.4 million / Late 2027

Traffic Impact: NB sidewalk closed around-the-clock from Access Rd to W. 11th St through June 2026. Daily outside lane closures (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and nightly (9 p.m. – 7 a.m.).

14. S.R. 710/Beeline Highway Reconstruction

Widening to 6 lanes and replacing the Turnpike bridge.

Cost/Completion: $148.2 million / Late 2029

Traffic Impact: Inside lane closures in each direction (7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Mon–Fri). SE-bound left turn to Blue Heron Blvd closed 24/7 through April 2026; detour via Military Trail.

Northlake Blvd: Lane closures (10:30 a.m. – 6 p.m.) and temporary traffic shifts at the intersection through Winter 2026.

15. S.R. 811/Alternate A1A Resurfacing (PGA Blvd to Donald Ross Rd)

Cost/Completion: $5.9 million / Summer 2026

Traffic Impact: Intermittent daily closures (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and nightly NB left lane closures (8 p.m. – 6 a.m., Sun–Thu).

16. U.S. 1/S.R. 5 Earman River Bridge Replacement

Cost/Completion: $13.7 million / Summer 2027

Traffic Impact: NB traffic shifted to the SB bridge through Spring 2026.

Marine Impact: Earman River channel closed through Spring 2027.

WESTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY

17. S.R. 80/Southern Blvd & S.R. 7/U.S. 441 Ramps

Cost/Completion: $8.3 million / Summer 2027

Traffic Impact: One NB lane of S.R. 7 closed continuously starting March 2 through Summer 2026 for bridge widening.

18. S.R. 15/E Main Street (Pahokee)

Cost/Completion: $3.5 million / Summer 2026

Traffic Impact: Intermittent closures 8 a.m. – 6 p.m., Feb 16–20.

19. U.S. 27/S.R. 25 Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Bridges

Cost/Completion: $20.9 million / Late 2028

Traffic Impact: Single lane closures 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., Feb 17–20. Traffic shifted east through Dec 31.

FLORIDA’S TURNPIKE (S.R. 91)

Canal Improvements (Milepost 79-82): Nightly SB lane closures 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Boynton Beach Blvd (Exit 86) Interchange: NB exit ramp to Boynton Beach Blvd closed nightly 11 p.m. – 5 a.m., Feb 16–19.

Full Road Closure: NB Turnpike between Atlantic Ave and Boynton Beach Blvd closed 10 p.m. Thursday, Feb 19 to 5 a.m. Friday, Feb 20. Detour via U.S. 441.

Widening (Boynton Beach Blvd to Lake Worth Rd): Nightly lane closures 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Widening (Service Plaza to Southern Blvd): Nightly lane closures 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. WB Southern Blvd lane closure 9 p.m. – 6 a.m.

Widening (Southern Blvd to Okeechobee Blvd): NB/SB lane closures nightly (8 p.m. – 6 a.m.). WB Southern Blvd has one inside lane closed continuously through May 2026.

LOCAL MAINTENANCE & AGENCY PROJECTS

Greenacres: S.R. 802/Lake Worth Rd (between Congress and Military Trail) – One lane closed 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Feb 16.

West Palm Beach: Forest Hill Blvd – One lane closed 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Feb 17–19 (Parker Ave to Lytle Ct) and Feb 20 (Lake Dr to Carissa Rd).

Palm Beach Gardens: PGA Blvd Drawbridges – Single right lane closed 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Feb 18 – March 4.
