BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Saturday morning fatal crash that left the Florida Turnpike closed for nearly seven hours left one woman dead, involved seven vehicles, and criticially injured multiple other adults children.
The massive pileup occurred around 10:00 a.m. near mile marker 90 in Palm Beach County — that’s near Boynton Beach Boulevard. According to Florida Highway Patrol investigators providing its first initial report to BocaNewsNow.com, the crash was a multi-incident event — starting with the collision and continuing with a chain reaction.
The Initial Collision
The chain reaction began about a mile south of the main crash scene. Authorities say a 69-year-old woman from Greenacres was driving a 2023 Honda Ridgeline northbound when her vehicle drifted onto the outside shoulder. She clipped the rear of a semi-truck trailer and continued driving north.
For reasons that remain unclear, the woman driving the Honda failed to notice slower traffic ahead, slamming into the back of a Jeep Wagoneer.
Chain Reaction and Injuries
The impact sent vehicles spinning across the highway. The police report is somewhat difficult to follow due the huge number of vehicles involved. We are providing the details in a list form and bold facing the vehicles:
The Honda Ridgeline continued its path, hitting a Honda CR-V before coming to a rest across the outside lane.
A Honda CR-V spun clockwise, striking a Lincoln Aviator and crashing into the outside concrete barrier wall.
A Jeep Wagoneer was redirected across the lanes, sideswiping a Hyundai Tucson before colliding with the back of a Jeep Cherokee that was carrying an electric mobility scooter.
The 69-year-old driver of the Honda Ridgeline was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not yet been released.
The driver and three passengers of the Wagoneer —two of whom are young children — suffered “incapacitating” injuries. Additionally, a woman and a child in the Honda CR-V were also seriously injured. All six were rushed to Delray Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the semi-truck, as well as the occupants of the Hyundai, the Jeep Cherokee, and the Lincoln Aviator, reported no injuries despite the impact.
