FDOT reports that the Florida Turnpike NORTHBOUND is closed in the area of Hollywood Boulevard. Cameras suggest southbound is very much affected, too.

UPDATE: The Turnpike has reopened as of 2:05 p.m., but there are a huge number of crashes in Broward and Palm Beach County today. Please drive carefully.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The Florida Turnpike northbound is completely shut in Broward County following a critical crash near Hollywood Boulevard.

We’re not entirely sure what that is that has lodged itself over the median wall — it seems to be either a bus or a trash truck — but either way, it’s causing quite a mess.

The Florida Department of Transportation reports that all lanes northbound are shut in the area. Cameras strongly suggest that southbound lanes are shut too, or at the very least moving extremely slowly.

If your plans this morning take you on the Florida Turnpike in the area of Hollywood Boulevard, we encourage you to find another route. We’ll update once we receive more from FDOT, but it looks bad.

Separately, there’s a major issue on I-95 in the area of Sheridan as of 12:30 p.m. We’re not updating this as a news event, but if you’re considering I-95 as an alternative, maybe don’t.
