Dear Evan Hansen. Wizard Of Oz. More…

NARROWSBURG, NY (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The curtains are rising on a new generation of talent as the Forestburgh Playhouse officially announces its 2026 local auditions for the upcoming summer season.
The annual casting call, a cornerstone of the Sullivan County arts scene, offers young performers a rare bridge between local passion and professional production. Auditions are scheduled for Sunday, March 22, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Sullivan West High School Auditorium in Lake Huntington.
Opportunities for Young Stars (Ages 5–12)
Younger performers have the chance to follow the yellow brick road this summer. The Playhouse is seeking cast members for its production of The Wizard of Oz. Selected children will take on roles as Munchkins, Flying Monkeys, and Winkies.
- Requirements: Hopefuls should prepare a 16-bar vocal selection (roughly 30–45 seconds). While piano sheet music is preferred for the provided accompanist, those without music are still encouraged to sing a song of their choice.
- Commitment: Rehearsals begin in mid-June. Performances are scheduled for Thursday and Saturday mornings from July 9 through August 1.
The Junior Resident Company (Ages 13–18)
For teenagers seeking a more rigorous theatrical education, the Junior Resident Company (Jr. ResCo) offers a professional-track experience. Modeled after the Playhouse’s professional Resident Company, this program serves as an immersive “boot camp” for serious young artists.
Members of the 2026 Jr. ResCo will: - Perform in the ensemble of the hit musical Dear Evan Hansen.
- Appear in The Wizard of Oz and understudy principal roles.
- Participate in exclusive master classes with industry professionals.
- Perform in a featured summer cabaret and the “Yellow Brick Road” concert.
Audition Note: Teens must prepare two contrasting 16-bar vocal selections with sheet music and should be prepared for a brief group movement (dance) call.
How to Register
The Playhouse emphasizes that this initiative is as much about community connection as it is about entertainment.
“This program reflects our ongoing commitment to arts education and strengthening connections within the local creative community,” the Playhouse stated in a release.
