Lacrosse Lawsuit
A slander lawsuit pits an ex-Benjamin School LaCrosse coach against another coach.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Peter Cordrey, the former head boys lacrosse coach at The Benjamin Upper School, wants you to know he’s not a predator. He just filed a lawsuit for libel and slander alleging that defendant Darren Lowe — another former Benjamin coach — engaged in a relentless character assassination campaign. Cordrey seeks more than $50,000 in damages, claiming that Lowe’s false accusations of professional misconduct and personal “predatory” behavior ultimately forced him to resign from his coaching position.

The complaint, reviewed by BocaNewsNow.com, lists specific instances of alleged defamation — most notably during a lacrosse tournament in Orlando in December 2025. According to court documents, Lowe reportedly told numerous third parties that 14 families had alleged abuse against Coach Cordrey—a claim the plaintiff insists is entirely fabricated. The complaint further alleges that Lowe referred to Cordrey as a “predator” to a referee and claimed to have proof of these allegations, despite having been warned in writing by the school’s attorney a year earlier that such language could lead to civil liability.

Internal communications included in the filing reveal a deeply fractured relationship between the plaintiff and defendant, both of whom are known in the local lacrosse scene. The complaint includes an April 2024 email from Lowe to school faculty in which he allegedly suggested that a “vulnerable kid” was being viewed as a victim of a “predator”. This prompted a powerful rebuttal from a parent, who sent an emotional letter to school administrators in February 2026 stating that their son was never abused and that Lowe was using their child as a pawn to damage the coach’s reputation.

Cordrey’s legal team argues that Lowe’s conduct was malicious and intentionally designed to expose the coach to ridicule and financial harm. The defense has yet to respond in court. Read the complete complaint, below.
