LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Art lovers in the Western Catskills have a new reason to head to Livingston Manor this spring as the Catskill Art Space (CAS) kicks off a compelling three-person exhibition. Starting March 7, the gallery will showcase the works of Daniel Giordano, Davana Robedee, and Kathy Ruttenberg in a collection that explores the intersection of human life and the natural world. The show runs through April 25, offering a deep dive into how we perceive our environment through everything from industrial materials to dreamlike indigo dyes.

The exhibition’s opening day promises a full afternoon of engagement, beginning with an artists’ talk from 3–4 p.m., followed immediately by a public reception. Visitors will see how Giordano utilizes local organic matter alongside “body-adjacent” items like lipstick and marzipan to create sculptural memories. Meanwhile, Robedee uses indigo she grew in her own garden to create “stitch-resist” works that mimic the hazy space of lucid dreams, and Ruttenberg offers a look into a “wonder world” where human figures and landscapes merge through ceramic and bronze.

The timing is a perfect opportunity for locals and weekenders alike to explore the CAS’s expanded facility, which underwent a major renovation in 2022. On the second floor, guests can still experience the long-term installation of James Turrell’s Avaar, a rare light-based work that hasn’t been seen by the public in nearly 50 years. The space also features massive wall drawings by the legendary Sol LeWitt and a “Utopian Bench” installation by local British sculptor Francis Cape, designed for visitors to actually sit on while overlooking the Willowemoc Creek.

For those who want to dig deeper into the “why” behind the art, the exhibition will wrap up on April 25 with a special Art and Ecology Symposium at 3 p.m. Facilitated by artist and writer Hovey Brock, the event will bring Giordano, Robedee, and Ruttenberg together for a roundtable discussion. They plan to discuss the ecological frameworks of their work and how their specific material choices—whether it’s resin-sealed urinal cakes or hand-grown indigo—reflect the changing world around us.

Since its founding in 1971, the Catskill Art Space has evolved from a small local society into a premier destination for contemporary art in the region. By blending rotating shows from emerging talents with permanent works from icons like Turrell and LeWitt, CAS continues to foster a creative community in the heart of the Catskills.
