Public Invited To: “Inheriting The Revolution, The Modern Legacy Of 1776.”

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Florida Atlantic University is inviting the community to dive into the lasting impact of the American Revolution with an upcoming lecture titled “Inheriting the Revolution: The Modern Legacy of 1776.” The event is scheduled for Thursday, March 19, at 4 p.m. inside the Lifelong Learning Auditorium on the Boca Raton campus. Hosted by the Department of History, the talk will feature Dr. Lindsay Chervinsky, a renowned expert currently serving as the executive director of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon.
Dr. Chervinsky will examine the original visions the Founding Fathers held for American politics, government institutions, and national culture. The discussion aims to bridge the gap between the 18th century and today, exploring how our modern society has evolved from those early expectations or, in some cases, stayed exactly the same. It is part of the University’s “America at 250” celebrations.
Dr. Chervinsky previously served as a historian at the White House Historical Association. She has held fellowships at the Library of Congress, the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University, and the International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello. Attendees will also have the chance to purchase her book, “Making the Presidency: John Adams and the Presidents that Forged the Republic,” with a book signing scheduled to follow the lecture.

The event is made possible through the John O’Sullivan Memorial Lecture and support from the Florida Atlantic Libraries, the Department of Political Science, and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Tickets for the afternoon session are priced at $25. Those interested in attending can secure their seats by visiting the FAU events website or by calling the box office at 561-297-6124.
