BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Palm Beach County is initiating a pilot program that offers Tiny Homes as transitional housing for people recovering from substance abuse.
The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and the Community Services Department (CSD) officially opened a competitive funding opportunity this week for the 2026 Opioid Settlement Funds (OSF) Tiny Homes Recovery Transitional Housing Pilot Program.
The program aims to tackle housing instability—a major hurdle for those recovering from substance use disorders. By providing a stable, private living environment, officials hope to improve long-term health outcomes. The initiative focuses on:
- The acquisition of prefabricated tiny homes.
- The implementation of recovery-oriented supportive services.
- Integrated treatment plans for residents.
The county has earmarked $500,000 for this pilot initiative. The funds are derived from the legal settlements paid out by opioid manufacturers and distributors, which are legally required to be spent on abatement and recovery efforts.
Non-profits and service providers interested in spearheading this project have a tight window to act. The deadline for submittals is March 17, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Prospective vendors and organizations can find the official Information Guide and FAQ on the Palm Beach County Public Notices page. To submit a bid, agencies must have a registered Vendor Account, which can be created via the PBC Vendor Self-Service portal.
This pilot is designed to complement existing countywide housing strategies, specifically targeting the intersection of behavioral health and homelessness in Palm Beach County.
