Big trouble for Boon’s Asian Bistro in West Boca Raton.

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boon’s Asian Bistro at 19605 State Road 7 was cited for multiple health code violations during an inspection on March 5th. Among the problems: a mold-like substance, employees touching their faces before touching food, insects, and more. While the restaurant was not ordered to close, it is now subject to an unannounced follow-up inspection.

Per BocaNewsNow.com policy, the following is the unedited list of violations logged with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation:

Basic – Accumulation of black/green mold-like substance in the interior of the ice machine/bin. **Warning**

Basic – Buildup of food debris/soil residue on equipment door handles. Observed soiled door handles of reach in coolers at cook line. **Repeat Violation** **Warning**

Basic -Employee with no hair restraint while engaging in food preparation. Observed employees engaging in food preparation with no hair restraints. Discussed with operator. Employee put on hair nets. **Corrected On-Site** **Warning** Basic – Ice buildup in reach-in freezer and/or walk-in freezer. Observed ice buildup in walk in freezer at fan. **Warning** Basic – Insect control device installed over food preparation area. Observed fly device over pot of sushi rice. Basic – Walk-in cooler/freezer shelves with rust that has pitted the surface. Observed in walk in cooler shelves with rust that has pitted the surface. **Warning**

High Priority – Dishmachine chlorine sanitizer not at proper minimum strength. Discontinue use of dishmachine for sanitizing and set up manual sanitization until dishmachine is repaired and sanitizing properly. Observed Dishwasher (Chlorine Oppm) **Repeat Violation** **Admin Complaint**

High Priority-Employee touched face/hair and then engaged in food preparation, handled clean equipment or utensils, or touched unwrapped single-service items without washing hands. Observed employee touch hair and then touch bag of raw chicken without washing hands or changing gloves. Discussed with operator. Employee washed hands. **Corrected On-Site** **Warning**

High Priority – Raw animal food stored over/not properly separated from ready-to-eat food. Observed raw chicken stored over soy sauce in walk in cooler. Operator removed. Observed in glass door tall reach in raw shell eggs stored over vegetables. Operator stored raw shell eggs properly. **Corrected On-Site** **Repeat Violation** **Admin Complaint**

High Priority -Time/temperature control for safety food cold held at greater than 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Observed at flip top across from fryer; crabmeat (56F); stuffed egg rolls (56F). Per operator food not prepared or portioned today. Food held in unit less than four hours.

Intermediate – Required employee training expired for all employees.

Boon’s was not ordered to close but will be reinspected without prior warning.
