
BROWARD COUNTY, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit detectives are investigating a murder that occurred early Sunday morning in Pompano Beach.
Around 2 a.m. on April 5, BSO deputies responded to reports of an injured male lying in the roadway in the 1600 block of North Dixie Highway. On scene, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, identified as 40-year-old Rayon Sanchez, was pronounced dead at the scene.
BSO’s Homicide and Crime Scene units took over the investigation. The 1600 block of North Dixie Highway was shut down to traffic for roughly four hours overnight before reopening.
