Sure, The City’s Financial Services Department May Not Be On Your Mind Every Day, But…

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The City of Boca Raton’s Financial Services Department is earning praise at both the state and national level, with two of its key divisions collecting prestigious awards for the 2026 cycle.
The city’s Purchasing Division has received the Award of Excellence in Public Procurement from the Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials — for the 19th consecutive year. The honor, which only 25 agencies statewide received this year, recognizes outstanding performance in innovation, professionalism, productivity, and leadership in the public procurement field.
Meanwhile, the Office of Management & Budget picked up the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association — a national recognition the department is now receiving for the 43rd year in a row. The award highlights the team’s work producing a budget document that functions as a transparent and effective financial planning tool. For the second straight year, the office also earned special recognition in both Performance Measures and Strategic Goals & Strategies, reflecting the city’s emphasis on accountability and long-range planning.
“These recognitions reflect the professionalism and high standards our Financial Services team brings to their work every day,” said Jim Zervis, Boca Raton’s Deputy City Manager and Chief Financial Officer. “It’s rewarding to see our efforts to excel in fiscal responsibility, public transparency, and accountability recognized at both the state and national levels.”
