BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There is a new criminal problem in the community of Lotus Boca Raton.

As the investigation continues into several homeowners who allegedly took part in the physical restraint and battery of a young child riding an e-bike, police returned to the community Saturday night for a new assault investigation.

According to very preliminary information obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an “assault in progress” just before 10 p.m. Saturday night. The location: The 8100 block of Paradise Bay Drive. The same thoroughfare where 62-year-old Mitchell Schuman was arrested on April 3rd after video appeared to show him throwing a water bottle at a child riding an e-bike, then taking the child’s phone. Schuman is now charged with theft and battery — two first degree misdemeanors. Each carries the potential of a year in jail.

The specifics of Saturday night’s alleged crime remain unclear as of Sunday afternoon. BocaNewsNow.com is awaiting official incident information from PBSO. It does not appear that anyone was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail as a result of whatever happened.

However, we note that cops seem to go easy on people living in the community of $1M+ homes that sits on Lyons Road between Clint Moore and Atlantic Avenue. Despite two alleged physical crimes against a child, Lotus homeowner Mitchell Schuman remains with just a “notice to appear.” Sources tell BocaNewsNow.com that the State Attorney’s office hasn’t even received the paperwork yet from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office despite PBSO confirming that charges against Schuman.
