The crash happened at approximately 8:58 a.m. at the intersection of Forest Hill Boulevard and Pinehurst Drive.
Investigators say the driver of a 2025 Hyundai Tucson, identified as Leonard Rosofsky, 74, of Boynton Beach, was traveling northbound across Forest Hill Boulevard attempting to enter a park when he struck two bicyclists. The bicyclists — Ashleigh Whitton, 45, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and Miguel Junior Gomez of Oakland Park — were riding westbound in an outside lane that had been closed to vehicular traffic for the triathlon. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
According to the sheriff’s office, neither the driver nor the bicyclists identified each other in time to avoid the collision. The bicyclists struck the passenger side of the vehicle on impact. Whitton was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries, while Gomez sustained minor injuries. Rosofsky, who was wearing a seatbelt, also reported minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation by PBSO’s Traffic Division. Charges are listed as pending. Next of kin has been notified. No alcohol or drugs were indicated as factors for any of the parties involved.
