BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — Boca Helping Hands will host its annual Bowling for Bread fundraiser on Sunday, August 30, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Lucky Strike, 21046 Commercial Trail. The event brings kids from local children’s charities out for an afternoon of bowling, food and fun — all free of charge to the families involved. Proceeds go toward the nonprofit’s KidsPack program, which sends weekend meals home with children in area schools.
Several South Palm Beach County children’s charities are taking part, including 4Kids, Achievement Centers for Children & Families, Adopt a Family of the Palm Beaches, the American Association of Caregiving Youth, Boys & Girls Club Boca Raton, Family Promise of South Palm Beach County, Fuller Center, HomeSafe, Pearl City Cats, Place of Hope, and Propel. Community members can sponsor a child for $100, sponsor a lane for $500, or make a donation of any amount to support KidsPack.
Bowling for Bread is part of Boca Chamber Festival Days, a lineup of August events pairing local nonprofits with Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce businesses. Ovation Home Insurance Exchange is the event’s for-profit chamber partner, and the Lee Pearlson Steinberg Foundation is the event sponsor — its 15th year backing Bowling for Bread. Foundation trustee Lee Steinberg said watching the kids enjoy themselves is something he looks forward to every year, adding that his late mother Pearl’s love for children’s causes inspired his continued support. The Gary Peters Family Foundation is the Strike Out Hunger sponsor, and Ovation Home Insurance Exchange and the Lawrence A. Sanders Foundation are Ten Pin sponsors. Boca Helping Hands started as a small soup kitchen in 1998 and has grown into one of South Florida’s largest nonprofit service providers, helping more than 40,000 people a year. In 2025, the organization distributed more than 3.5 million meals through its hot meal and pantry bag programs across five Palm Beach County sites, and its KidsPack Weekend Meals Program provided 288,546 meals to kids at 15 schools and five summer camps.
