Allegedly Caught On Camera Covered in Feces.

DELRAY BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2026 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — A Charlotte, North Carolina man is facing multiple charges after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies say he left the scene of a crash near South Military Trail and Via Delray, then refused to cooperate with a DUI investigation when deputies caught up with him at his home. Richard Joseph Iafrate, 45, was arrested Friday night and charged with DUI property damage, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage, refusal to submit to a breath test and refusal to accept or sign his citation. He was allegedly documented on video covered in feces after the crash — before he fled to his home.
According to the arrest report obtained by BocaNewsNow.com, the crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Military Trail and Via Delray. Deputies say a 2020 Nissan Rogue driven by Iafrate collided with a 2017 Honda sedan that had the right of way. Instead of stopping, deputies say Iafrate drove to a nearby home on Via Aurora. The other driver followed him there and called 911 to report that the man involved in the crash had left the scene.

Responding deputies say Iafrate showed clear signs of impairment, including slurred speech, an unsteady gait and glassy, bloodshot eyes. He initially told deputies he didn’t know he had been in a crash, but later apologized multiple times once he was shown the fresh damage to his vehicle, according to the incident report. Deputies say Iafrate refused to perform any roadside sobriety exercises and refused to submit to a breath test. He also refused to sign his citation, resulting in an additional charge.
Iafrate was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail and is set to appear in court later in August.
