It’s Boca Rudeton For Sunday. We Start With A Choo Toy!

BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — The dog problem continues in Palm Beach County as dog owners bring their pets where they do not belong. Florida and federal statutes prohibit dogs in facilities that serve food. It’s a crime in Florida to misrepresent your dog as a “service animal.” But that doesn’t seem to stop people in Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Delray Beach, and beyond from bringing their fuzzy wuzzies into places designed for humans, not their pets.
We start with Whitt’s Frozen Yogurt on Federal Highway in Boca Raton. It’s the photo below. Our reader doesn’t know why the couple brought their dog into the restaurant. Do they get credit for holding the dog instead of letting it slobber on the ground? Sure. But should the dog be there in the first place? No. Sorry, doggie. Froyo is for people, not pets.

We next move to Whole Foods on Glades Road in Boca Raton. We actually have two nominees in this specific Whole Foods — which is somewhat incredible considering Whole Foods is supposed to be all about health. But when you consider that he vast majority of “official dog vests” probably come from Amazon, which owns Whole Foods, you may make a connection. We’re not making that connection, but you might.
Anyway, our first Whole Foods nominee is bearded guy with the teeny tiny dog wearing a red vest at his feet. Again, we don’t know if that vest came from Amazon which owns Whole Foods. We also don’t know what service that seemingly breathing sock puppet provides that makes it legit in a food store.

Our next nominee in Whole Foods Boca Raton is the dog in the stroller. Strollers are for babies, not animals. If you need to push your dog around in a stroller, maybe stay home? At least that’s the thinking of the BocaNewsNow.com reader who nominated these people — and the dog — for a Boca Rudeton distinction.

We’ve renamed Boca Raton Town Center Mall as Boca Raton Toilet Center Mall because of the number of dogs leaving excrement behind. We’re not suggesting the dog at the top of the post seen at Neiman Marcus in Boca Raton Town Center Mall did anything like that, but we’re unclear why that dog is in the shoe department. Even by Boca Raton standards, dogs wearing a pair of Jimmy Choo’s is a bit much. But maybe the dog owner wants to give it a Choo toy. After all, it is Boca!
So who’s our winner? It’s a tough one this week, but we’re going for dog shoe! There’s just no reason, reasons our reader, that someone shopping for expensive shoes in Neiman Marcus needs to bring a pet. We have to agree. If you need the dog to buy shoes, maybe use Zappos. Malls are not dog parks. What does our winner win? Well, as our readers know, we don’t really give prizes. But let’s say we did. It would be a copy of our new book: “A Human’s Guide To Acting Like A Human When Shopping In What Used To Be A High-End Store Before Salespeople Ignored Shoppers With Dogs.” We’re hoping that it’s published by 2028.
Although malls may not exist by then. Because no one wants to shop where a dog does what a dog does.
We remind our readers that there is no expectation of privacy in a public place. Don’t want to be seen here? Don’t be rude here! Send your submissions to us using the menu buttons above. Share your thoughts about these doggie people in our comment section, below. Boca Rudeton™ is a trademark of MetroDesk Media, LLC. Jeez, what don’t these folks understand? Dogs are not supposed to be in supermarkets, restaurants or stores for that matter. Why is this such a difficult situation for so many down here to understand? Can’t leave your house without your dog, get some help for your issue but please, leave your pet at home, where it belongs. Seems simple enough to me!
They’re entitled morons who don’t think rules apply to them.
I blame the stores for allowing these A Hs and ill be dammed if I step foot in any of their stores.
Enough already. Tired of all the dog haters.
I am not, by any stretch of imagination, a dog hater. But I also would NOT bring my dog into these stores.
not a dog hater at all. Dogs just don’t belong in stores,. So many people have allergies or strong phobias & fears.
I believe in all the instances except for the town center they’re breaking the law. I don’t think it’s against the law to bring a dog into a mall. I know I was there the other day and I probably counted 50 of them as long as they don’t take them into any of the food establishments, I think they’re OK. It would be up to mall Management to decide if they want to allow it or not But I don’t believe they’re breaking the law I’m one of the the most stringent people on this issue as I have a service animal and absolutely hate all these fakes and emotional support dogs that make my life much more difficult but was fair is fair and it’s my understanding that a dog could go into a mall I’m wrong. Please challenge me.
Well who is going to clean up the doggy poop and pee, and don’t forget vomit? You don’t suppose the dog owners are going to clean it up, do you?
I always carry cleaning supplies in case of an accident. Haven’t had to use them yet. I keep my puppy on a very short leash so she can’t bother anyone. Doanu people stop to pet her.
Dogs are now in strollers and on leash in the Doctors , when you say anything to the Dr or help behind the glass they just shrug and ignore it but the fact is they are there or spread out on the waiting room floor
I wonder if they made an appointment
Most malls have a code of conduct listed on their website. And any that I have seen say “no pets allowed.” I appreciate your reporting on this selfish behavior. But being a journalist…can’t you delve into this problem further? Contact the ADA. Contact these places of business. Help us put an end to this, please.
Nobody’s enforcing it so it’s a moot issue until it’s enforced. No careless dog owner is going to comply if it’s not enforced.
The manager at Publix (Shoppes at San Marco, unincorporated Delray Beach) said he was instructed by corporate to not confront anyone bringing a dog into the store. A patron had an extremely aggressive loud barking dog scaring everyone and the manager did nothing. Another patrol had her dog sprawled out in a shopping cart; I’d hate to use that cart with dog crap/hair/fleas on it unsuspectingly. These privileged jerks are getting on my nerves. When I say something they just ignore me. I wonder if they make dog tasers, although it’s not the dog’s fault…maybe to be used on the leashholders?
A well-behaved dog should be able to go anywhere a well-behaved child can go. Do you call crying babies rude? I and many others like to shop with my dog and I will spend my money in establishments that welcome dogs. Malls are like Main Streets and dogs stroll up and down Main Street all over the USA. You are the rude ones for picking on dogs in public spaces and in stores that are open to the public. I am proud to bring my dog into stores and if I run into your rude reporter I will smile and show my contempt for him/her.
Howard, we hope you get the help you clearly need. Dogs are dogs. Children and children. They’re not the same.
I am a dog owner and my dog will go with me as long as the establishment allows it. Home depot, Lowe’s, Michael’s and various other stores allow pets and clearly state it on their websites and entrances. As for restaurants I will ask and not assume, with few exceptions if they have outside seating they will allow the seating. My dog is small and sits in her stroller, not shopping cart. UnIike the parents who allow their children, and not just young ones but teenagers as well, to sit or stand in the shopping carts and those parents that I’ve seen change a diaper in a shopping cart. Gross!! In closing, I for one am tired of the ppl who are just plain NASTY, PETTY, RUDE and make SNIDE remarks to dog owners who enter establishments where dogs are welcomed and clearly stated at entrances. If that’s a problem for them then go speak to management and do not attack the pet owner. Stop lumping all pet owners into the same category. Just a dog owners opinion, if you care to hear both sides.
I think this column exists to incite rage on both sides and I suppose that makes money for someone. I hav been to and lived in quite a few other parts of this wonderful country and hav never seen such despise for dogs anywhere else. Of course there r rude dog owners as well as rude people in general. I take my dog to places that allow them. It is polite to ask. There r thank goodness, a number of places that allow dogs inside. Best to hav a well trained dog to go to them. Dogs r not dirty or disgusting, for many of us they r part of our life’s joy. Please please just stop the hate
I like the idea of taking pictures of people w their mutts in inappropriate public spaces and posting them on here.
Dogs are allowed in Neiman Marcus, as long as they are kept on a leash.
