BOCA RATON, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There’s no swimming until further notice at the Spanish River Park Beach. Here’s what the City of Boca Raton is saying:

The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) of Palm Beach County conducts regular beach water quality sampling and has posted a Health Advisory for Spanish River Park Beach. A recent sampling showed elevated bacterial levels in the water. As a precaution, swimming at Spanish River Park Beach is prohibited until further notice.

FDOH found sample levels to be greater than 71 colonies per 100 millimeters of marine water putting both beaches in the “poor range,” which indicates a potential health risk to the bathing public.

For the safety of residents and visitors, swimming is prohibited until further notice; however, the park and beach will remain open.  Additional water samples will be taken and it is hoped that full use of the beach may resume within the next 24 to 48 hours.

The cause of the elevated level of bacteria that prompted the advisory is unknown, but is generally associated with storm water runoff, pets and wildlife and human sewage.

For more information, please contact the Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County at 561-837-5988 or visit the FL Department of Health’s website for Beach Water Quality.

Please city or boca Raton (East) , Close that nuisance dog park, as a long time resident of Boca Raton (East), many of us have been furious about Spanish river beach /park becoming a dog park, idiotic and disgusting decision, and we own three dogs never have brought them to any beach in boca. It’s been years now and the complaints fall to the waste side of the boca mafia counsel (There is ton of dog Sh*t everywhere and it’s even on the non dog side because all these nomad drifters come to our beautiful city from bordering cities, especially Deerfield beach, and Delray Beach because those city do not allow dogs nor their crap on their sandy beaches and they come here to let there dogs crap everywhere and half heartedly clean it.) Enough is enough ,please build a dog park away from the beach and Fence it in and have bleachers and tables and near a Starbucks, all problems solved you can call it “east inlet caffeinated a$$hole dog feces park” Do better Boca! This isn’t west boca, we need to be better!!

    Very Respectfully,

    The Schwartz family
