BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2024 MetroDesk Media, LLC) — There were six murders in Boynton Beach during the 2023 calendar year, and the police department late Wednesday says it has now made arrests in each one. The last outstanding case now “cleared” with the arrest of Jaquan Perry. Cops say he’s responsible for a body found at I-95 and Woolbright Road. Boynton Beach Police issued this statement to BocaNewsNow.com.

“On September 6, 2023, the Boynton Beach Police Department received reports of shots being fired in the 500 block of West Woolbright Road. Officers responded to the scene but did not locate any evidence of a shooting or victim(s) at that location. Shortly after, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) discovered a male victim later identified as Michael Gawlik inside a vehicle at the bottom of the southbound I-95 entrance ramp. Mr. Gawlik had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Despite limited evidence, our detectives pursued leads, ultimately identifying 22-year-old Jaquan Perry as the suspect through careful examination of video footage. Perry was arrested yesterday, April 2, 2024, and faces charges of first-degree murder.

Despite the tragic circumstances, the Boynton Beach Police Department has investigated a total of six homicides throughout the 2023 year, and all have been cleared by arrest. This accomplishment underscores the dedication and professionalism of the officer and the detectives of the Boynton Beach Police Department.”

Perry is being held without bond in the Palm Beach County Jail.
